Morning dust smells and sneezing

Post by mcke3393 » Fri Jan 21, 2005 9:23 am

When I take my mask off in the morning, I am overpowered by the smell of dust. We don't live in a dusty house and the smell is gone after a minute or so. I'm also sneezing alot lately and I've only been on the machine two weeks or so. I checked the filter and it looks fine-its the one that came with it. Any suggestions or similar experiences?
Thanks, Michael

Greetings Michael,

Take a look at the filter part of your machine. Are you using a foam filte and a thin disposible filter? if you don't use a disposibler filter you might want to consider using one. The thin white filter removes the ultra fine dust particles. That might very well be what you are smelling. What machine are you using?

ResMed Elite S7. I am still using the filter that came pre-installed but my month is almost up and I'll go ahead and change it to the one that came in the 6-pack for $15. They do look different, so this may clear things up.

Thanks,
Michael

Greetings Michael,

The filter you currently use is dual purpose. One side cleans large particles, and the other cleans small particals.

You may want to look at the In-Line Outlet Hepa Filters that we carry at cpap.com.

Here is the link.
