Sleepyhead tutorial?

Post by greatnitz » Fri Sep 23, 2011 8:12 pm

Hello all,

Is there a website that shows you how to read the data in Sleepyhead? Just had my CPAP for one day, just trying to figure out what these stats mean.

Thanks,

Darren

No. I have been meaning to compose something to at least help with definitions but haven't got it done.

Post your report along with your questions and we will explain.

Don't know how to post an image of a report? Here is how I do it.

Open the image to full size so it is easily read.
I use Vista snipping tool to create a screen shot and crop the image at the same time.
Prt/scr key will also take a screen shot if using XP. If laptop is used sometimes the Fn key has to be pushed at the same time as the prt/scr key
I think windows 7 Home Premium has the snipping tool, Basic may not.
Once the screen shot is created save it in jpg format.
Upload the image to a host site. I use Photobucket it is free, there are others.
Once the image is uploaded then copy the ENTIRE IMG address. Be sure to include the opening and closing IMG in brackets. Paste that copied address into a post here.
Use the preview button. If you can't see the image try again because if you can't see it we can't.

Hard for me to see the tiny numbers so if I am off a wee bit please forgive.

Leak line... pretty good for your mask at your pressures. The last couple of hours it was much less desirable but you are new to all this and at your pressures and your mask, it is going to take time to dial it in. Try to keep it under 65 L/min as best you can. When you start pushing above 80 you are getting close to where it can impact therapy.

AHI...Apnea Hyponea Index...hourly average of the totals for the CA (clear airway apneas), OA (Obstructive Apneas, & Hyponeas . Less than 5 is good. Yours is great.

Periodic Breathing. A breathing rhythm which is like Cheyenne Stokes Respiration. I don't have exact definition handy. It is in the clinical manual for your machine if you have one. If not let us know and I will tell you how to get one.
BTW all the definitions are in the manual. Figuring out how they impact you is not though. The one episode of PB in green. Not long and nothing to worry about. You may have nights with a little and some night with none. If we saw much longer duration then we get concerned.

All in all an excellent report especially for being new at this. Only thing that needs work was the leak late in the sleep time. Since the bulk of the night leak was acceptable I think you can count this night a success.

Snores we don't pay much attention to unless a large number and yours isn't.

Now.. what did you not understand since I have hit the high points... Leak...AHI..snores and PB.

greatnitz, there is no tutorial on using SleepHead. It is currently at the alpha stage, i.e. under early development with lots of bugs. It is not ready for daily use. The main purpose of the developer in making it available at this stage is to allow people to test it and report bugs and other problems, so that it can be readied for general beta testing in the future. If you choose to download the software at this stage, your main goal should be to identify bugs and other problems so that you can report them and they can be fixed.

The main place to report and discuss problems is these two threads:

viewtopic/t65738/SleepyHead-Qt-v08-alpha.html

viewtopic/t66627/SleepyHead-Test-Build- ... -OS-X.html

There is also a mailing list, to which you can subscribe, if you are so inclined, at this site:

https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/lis ... head-devel

I believe it does. However, I believe that PR users need a System 1. (I say "I believe" because I am a Mac and ResMed guy.) Does your husband's machine use an SD card?

Mike is trying a ResMed S9 Autoset right now. Dori has been using ResScan with it.

Maybe we can keep this thread alive for user questions. The other one is way too long to wade through. I think there are enough people using it now to answer general questions. And the title is searchable!

I 'm sure it doesn't support our older M Series but right now he's using a Resmed S9 Autoset. I use the ResScan software and an SD card with no problem but it would be nice to see what SleepyHead has to offer. I don't want to download SH if it's not compatible with my computer, I wouldn't be savvy enought to fix it. I thought I read somewhere that you need Windows 7?

SleepyHead works fine on Vista. I don't think it cares about 32/64 bit. It works on S9 or PRS1 machines, although I'm not sure it works on all the bilevel and ASV models yet. It does not work on machines earlier than S9 or PRS1, since they don't have SD cards.

Using Win XP (service pack 3) here and Sleepyhead is running fine.
