ResScan 3.10 Unable To Select Device For Download

Post by Slinky » Mon Sep 12, 2011 9:59 pm

Using ResScan v. 3.10.006.

Created a New Patient w/minimal Profile info, i.e. first, last name, sex, date of birth, PAP model and Serial Number.

Insert card from S8 VPAP Auto into card reader. (Card reader, card, software have worked prior to this).

Cannot do a download. Constantly getting a "Connect flow generator or data card and try again"

Have tried multiple times resetting card (gold tip up), plugging and re-plugging cable reader, closing ResScan and re-opening and starting over again.

Have gone in to Device Settings and tried to Select but I get 4 No Devices and one Unavailable - In Use but all 5 "choices" are grayed out and can't be selected.

In the Tools - Options - Download - there is a box for a COM-port 1-255 and that is empty, not checked. Would this have anything to do with the problem? If so, HOW did it get unchecked? It sure wasn't me 'cause I've never gone there before this.

I remember somebody else ran into this problem. Had anyone who has run into it been able to solve the problem?

I know this sounds too simple so forgive me but on my computer, every single morning I get that error. No matter how many times I open and reopen etc. I have to shut my computer off and restart it. I think the SD slot on my computer gets messed up when the computer is in standby. When I go to bed I just shut the lid. So anyway, I have to restart the computer for it to work. I doubt its that but just in case I thought I would mention it.

Hey, it doesn't cost me anything to try it, Cuda. And in the very dim recesses of my mind I wonder if I have ever had to try that. I've had this happen on occasion but just closing ResScan once and restarting it has cured the problem. I don't ever remember having to actually turn my 'puter off - but - in the dim recesses of my beady little brain .... maybe. Anyway, I'm gonna try it. I've got nuttin' to lose by doing so. Thanks.

Well, we figgered it was too easy to be true - and it was - too easy to be true. Didn't work.

I've also tried 4 different data cards, all that I have. Even cleaned the two used ones, just in case. Soft eraser and alcohol gentle rub. *sigh*

Anyone else w/any suggestions?

I am using 3.14, I checked this under the "about" menu in the program itself. I downloaded the program from ResScan and the link was from "Uncle Bob" Can you guys confirm what version you are using? I know mine is listed wrong in my profile but thats because they did not have my version on cpaptalk.com.

1) Confirm your version please
2) Confirm your computer can ready ANY card with ANY program. Try a newer SD card, format it in another computer and put something on it like a JPEG picture. Can your computer see that and access the file? If not see 3
3) Check device manager if you know how, are there any errors? If you do not know how just ask.

Thats where I would start.

Have you down loaded or updated anything on your computer between the time you last cheacked your data and when you started having trubble?
My first thought is an Incompatability issue. My second thought is that maybe you need to update your drivers for the card reader.

Card reader? I guess I should have read more carefully. I would still try seeing if ANY card or file can be read. Can you see the files in just browsing the card, not using the program? Try removing the device, if the software has no option for this you need to do so within the operating system, ask if you need directions. Make sure and reboot then add the card reader drivers again.

Also, when you installed ResScan and it asked to install drivers you should have said NO!!! I had problems the first time by selecting yes. If you chose yes to those drivers I would remove the card reader drivers, uninstall ResScan, reboot. Install the card drivers, re-install ResScan and choose NO to drivers when it installs.

What operating system? Windoze?

You show 3.7 in the equipment list. Did you just upgrade to 3.10? If so did you install the driver for the proprietary card reader when you did?

Using Windows XP.

Using ResScan v. 3.10.006. Updated from 3.7 quite some time ago. Worked fine until after upgrade. Haven't used it since 01 May 2011. Used the VPAP Auto last night. Uploaded to the card today. And the results are the first post in this thread. I stopped by my DME provider's, Carol did a download for me and the data was there so the card is good.

I'll have to take some time reconstructing the timeline of events before answering your questions. THANK YOU for taking the time to help. Back atchya later when I can correctly answer your questions.

Slinky, sounds like you may have a driver problem. See the post above for a lot of info about S8 readers and drivers. Look down toward the bottom for how to check the proper driver is installed. The info was written primarily for win 7 but a lot applies to XP. Essentially, you need to go to the device manager to determine you have the proper driver installed first. Left to it's own, later versions of windows will install the CCID version of the driver which is not compatible with the ResScan reader and yield the results you are experiencing.
