Second Wind CPAP is a really good place for used machines. They're all cleaned and tested unlike what you might find on an auction site.

Sounded to me like it was not the owner's choice. If it was my site and I chose to shut it down for my own reasons, I'd announce it ahead of time, allow running auctions to end normally, and bring it down in an orderly fashion. This sounds like the door was slammed on him.

Something is fishy. Even if Cpapauction.com went bust, why so suddenly? and why would a vendor then say that meant it had to cancel all the week's sales and refund payments? This last especially makes no sense.

I doubt the shutdown of CPAPAuction was related to your specific vendor. The vendor probably didn't want to complete the sale when the site his items were sold through closed suddenly and without warning.

it's all my fault. I am from Australia, where we make CPAP machines (or used to make them) and they cost twice as much here. I sent my prescription to them (CPAP fixed) and they approved me for masks and gear only. when I emailed them a few weeks later they apoligised and approved me for Auto and CPAP machines. I then asked a seller if they would post to Australia and they said no. I was then going to set up a Shipto address to get hold of one. Interpol, the CIA, and the Illuminati obviously got onto my capers and they have pulled the plug before my evil crimes could be implemented. sorry everyone, I pushed our luck. I just hope noone goes to prison when they send the FBI in to bust us all. / sarcasm

all makes me want to marry the daughter of a Chinese businessman though, just to get the inside rap on the goods.

There is definitely price fixing going on here in Australia with CPAP resellers.. A nice lawsuit or three against the manufacturers/resellers will fix them..

Someone send me the auction software; I have unlimited bandwidth at 15MBPS and a spare computer and would be pleased to put the site back up if it is Johnny's wish. Else, watch for a new CPAPAUCTION.com coming your way once I have my full head of steam back after heart surgery. If it is okay with Johnny. Does eBay permit CPAP stuff?

Such a shame to lose a wonderful tool.

No, Ebay does not permit CPAP Machines for sale on their site. You can sell Mask Parts to get around the perscrption needed clause. But the sale of machines or whole masks is prohibited and they will remove the auctions as soon as they find them.

I suspect, (Just a guess) That the removal of the autction site does not come about because Johhny does not want to do it, but because some one (maybe manfacture, but I suspect someone instead) found a legal loophole to go after CPAPAUCTION. And they sent out a legal stop what you are doing now, or there will be legal troubles letter.

Just my guess mind you. However, if that is the case those responsible would probbly target any entities that try to start up their own auction site.

My life is so much better because of the forum.
I am quite sure my health would not be nearly as good as it is now if not for the information and support I know I could not have found anywhere else.
Losing cpaptalk.com would be a terrible, terrible thing.

I always had mixed feelings about CPAPaution.com. On the one hand, it was nice to be able to buy the masks that my insurance won't cover (Kaiser has a limited formulary for masks) at a reasonable price. On the other hand, the reason that some of those sellers have HUNDREDS of masks to sell is that they were selling free samples provided by the manufacturers to sleep labs and DME's for the purpose of helping customers try out masks.

The people who were selling these samples were cheating the system and in the end, it was US, the users who get hurt because some DME's refuse to let us try on masks first or they won't give out samples to let us try them at home before settling on a regular mask--why should they if they can sell the samples on the side and make even more money? AND, it drove the prices up for everyone. But I don't think these people are going away in any case--there will be a surge of "mask part" sellers on eBay and Craigslist and whereever else they can find to sell their purloined samples.

Unfortunately, those of us who have lightly used equipment (because we PAID for it and it didn't work out) have lost a valuable outlet for our stuff.

I (as many, many others) would have been a lost soul (and brain) had it not have been for this forum.
I'd still be using my non-data capable REMstar @ 8cm with my non-compatible ComfortGel Classic.
I've been known to raise stink when someone gets too close or attempts to possess what is mine.
That's the way I feel about this forum. I'd be a lost soul if it wasn't for you guys.
The wealth of knowledge I've learned here is priceless in my estimation.
I'd be one of the first to miss a day from work to write a well written letter and make some phone calls if that's what it took to keep this forum from being taken from me.

I am totally surprised at the news...no cpapauction.... Carolyn and Johnny must be really upset at loosing part of their business. I truely applaud them for being young entrepeneurs, they have done well for being so young. Reason for immediate shut down had to be a dumb ass one. We still applaud you Carolyn, Johnny and the crew for what you have done for us all thus far.
