Mask troubles

Post by ThirdOutOfFive » Fri Sep 02, 2011 3:13 pm

Have had a very hard time with noises and mask (Swift FX for Her) dislodging during the night and creating leaks. Met with my Resp Ther (also my DME). She downloaded my machine data, and said that I am doing beautifully. I know this is only compliance data and the machine does not know how long it takes me to get back to sleep after I fix the mask leak. The data also does not show how much I am actually asleep. Tried to explaint this, and the fact that sleep disruptions are a major feature of my fibromyalgia. She doesn't get it. However, she did give me a different mask to try -- F&P Zest. Jeez, I hope this works! Between this stress, co-worker drama at my work, and hubby's extreme stress at work, I just cant take any more!

I use the swift nasal pillows, and find if I lie on my back, theres very little noise.

But......I prefer my side or stomach. and I notice that the "outlet" valve makes a real racket when it doesnt have a clear airway. If the air hits the pillow or quilt the noise starts. Its working, just making a noise. When I have a leak, it tends to wake me with the draught,

Not sure if that helps, or confirms Im having the same problems.

Marky, that "sounds" familiar. I'm hoping for better with the new mask. With fibro, it takes me forever to get back to sleep.

MaryZ, thanks.
