Hose clips?

Post by ThirdOutOfFive » Thu Aug 25, 2011 4:42 pm

This morning was the second in a row that I wakened with the hose wrapped around my waist. (Almost 4 weeks into PAPpy living.) I think I read someone's advice on where to get clips that would help tame the hose. Could someone please give me that information?

Thanks to all for the information & support. What a great community.

You can find them on Ebay look for CPAP hose clips. They are also on our hosts website too. I use them to clip my hose to the edge of my mattress so I don't pull the machine off the nightstand.

You can also make your own from a Velcro cable strap and a clip from a name badge. Use the type with the clear plastic loop with a snap and feed it through the slot on the Velcro. Come out just like the purchased ones.

Here is the link to the type of name badge clip I used: http://www.staples.com/Staples-Vinyl-St ... uct_573105

Here is a link to the retractable badge holder I used: http://www.staples.com/Staples-Transluc ... uct_662767

Here's the Velcro cable tie link: http://www.staples.com/VELCRO-Brand-ONE ... uct_906489
Then I use 3M Command™ Adhesive Wall Hooks, Medium, White, 2/Pack: http://www.staples.com/3M-Command-Adhes ... uct_362350 attached either to the wall behind the headboard of the the headboard if tall enough. I use two and it keeps the hose out of the way and it's cut down on the mask leaks a lot.

If you're just buying hose clips, shop around a bit. Some vendors charge about $10, but you can get them for much less. When I bought my machine, the DME said, "Those things are about a dime a dozen," and gave me one for free.

I use a suspension system to keep the hose running vertically from the mask to solve this problem. Some masks have a vent from the swivel that, if the hose is down, blows air into your eyes. This way has the air blowing down past your chin.

Several others have posted ways to build your own from PVC pipe, etc.

Our host sells these at https://www.cpap.com/productpage.php?ur ... stem&All=1 They offer other models for travel, etc.

They are available at other sites such as Walter Drake for differing prices.

I got the one suitable for traveling and it fits into my CPAP travel case quite nicely.

Would not running the hose up over your headboard be better? Or..if you don't use a headboard put one of those picture hangers on the wall...the ones made by 3M that you can release without it taking the paint off the wall. I run mine up over my headboard and put an eyehook at the top of the headboard to hook the hose to.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.
