Newest Nasal Pillow Mask???

Post by Wonka » Thu Aug 18, 2011 8:12 am

Darn...a couple of weeks ago, my DME brought out a new pillow mask I read about here that had a wide rear headband and kinda unusual elliptical-shape side straps. I tried it on and an Opus 360 but decided to try to stick with my Swift FX (mostly because of it's flexible hose). But, I'm ready to throw in the towel on the FX. I've used it for a couple of months and I just can't get a good seal and the straps have too much movement each night.

Can anyone tell me the name of the other newer pillow mask from poor description above (large rear headband, elliptical-shaped Side strap near the nose? I believe it was specific to Men for some reason?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

This is the only new model I have seen lately. Could it have been this one?

That's the one I have ---- the GoLife for women. If feels a little leaky when I first put it on at night, but then later I can't even tell I have it on --- I have to feel my face to see if it's there.

Yes! That's the one I tried on, but the Opus 360 seemed to provide a better seal. So, I'm going to give the Opus 360 a try first and think about trying the golife for men down the road if the Opus 360 doesn't work out. Thanks for the information!

I had one, and it wasn't very comfy as a side sleeper. It's got these pieces on the side that feel like metal with some cloth around it. Not comfy to lay on.

With the Swift FX its recommended to sew some velcro hooks tape on the back of the headband, its make a very big difference to the way it otherwise moves about.

The nasal pillow mask puts too much pressure on the area between my upper lip and nose and I wake up in serious pain. That's a pressure point used in martial arts and can I can take most people down with the pressure one finger. Loosening the straps doesn't work because I am a heavy snorer with vasomotor rhinits and have too many leaks with a looser fit.

Is this common to the nasal pillow, is it the fit, or just not for me?

I suspect it is the fit. No mask should cause pain. If it does.. it is too tight.
You didn't mention which nasal pillow mask but I have use one for over 2 years and I don't even notice it is there.
Never has been any pain unless I had it too tight.

There are some comfort items available which might help depending on which mask you use.
