scar tissue in heart

Post by jess » Mon Aug 15, 2011 8:14 pm

I learned about another physical problem caused by apnea today that you may already know about----- but I've never read about it before. I went to the doctor today because I was worried about my blood pressure getting so low after just two weeks of cpap. The doctor congratulated me so guess I am fine. I'm not dying of low blood pressure. He then said that after years of apnea some people develop scar tissue on the right ventricle or atrium (can't remember which) of the heart. He has set up an ultra sound test for me next week. He said the symptoms are shortness of breath and I think tiredness. He wasn't really worried that I have it, because he said it usually occurs in people who are much older (I'm 62), but he's doing the test for "I don't know why" Anyway, I have not read about the potential of heart scar tissue development because of Apnea so thought I'd pass this information on to you.

This is really interesting. Thanks for passing it along. I've been going through a lot of heart-related tests lately but I've had two ultrasounds of my heart recently so I know mine is okay in that sense. Still, it's good incentive to keep on going with the therapy! I hope my blood pressure drops with this also. It would be nice to get off the blood pressure medications altogether.

Because he has a car payment due and 'your' insurance won't pay unless he does something for you. Don't forget the follow-ups.
