Good Thing or a Bad Thing

Post by VABeach » Sun Aug 14, 2011 1:50 pm

I have been on apap for almost 2 years. I have not noticed any significant changes to my health exept that I do not snore (per my Wife) and I sleep extremely deep relative to what I slept before apap.

I am wondering or even concerned about too deep of a sleep. I rarely wake up at night even for a bathroom calling. I don't wake up for lightning/thunder storms that occur late at night. I go to bed before my wife and the lights are off..when she come in and turns the lights on I never wake up to the light coming or to the rumblings of her getting into bed.

I am assuming that I am getting quality sleep because of how deep it seems to be.

My question is can my sleep be TOO deep yet the quality (ie. sleep stages) not be good. I fall asleep quickly at around 930 pm and wake up like an alarm clock at 6 am. I do dream regularly and they are not nightmares.

Can there be a problem since I still feel tired during the day?

Responses appreciated.

thank you,

If your mouth is open once you're asleep you could lose most of your therapy that way and have no real treatment going on, so it might be worth looking into a full face mask, or at least taping to see if it helps for a few nights, etc.

Have you always slept that deeply? Some people are just naturally difficult to wake up. If you're tired, that does indicate a problem of some sort, though.

If you are still feeling tired during the day and you have eliminated any therapy related factors, we have to remember that there are other possible contributing factors. Meds? Bed comfort? Pain? General health issues like thyroid, vitamin D, hormones??? Have you spoken to your doctor about it?

I too have been on the machine for a little over 2 years. I have great numbers. No leaks to speak of. Usually get adequate hours of sleep. I don't feel as chipper as I would like during the day but I know I have issues with a bad spine that the pain wears me out. I just do the best I can. That is all anyone can do.

Sounds good to me.

Do you wake up when you need to? Alarm clock? Wife telling you to get up? Have her wake you up sometime or set an alarm in the middle of the night to see if you can wake up when you need to.

As for the bathroom trips, do you really need to go when you wake up or ever have any accidents?
