This was on Dr. Andrew Weil's website. Has anyone heard of this?

I have not, but the results ought to be similar to meditation.

I own one of these, and it is quite effective. I haven't needed to use it for a long time since my bp stabilized w/ cpap and weight loss. It is the only non-med bp lowering device approved by the FDA.

I have - two or more years ago, I think. It's an Israeli invention. Haven't ever used it - would have tried it if I had the need to lower my BP.

Shoot. I think a dog (or cat) would be a better choice. There are several ways they help. Play can be FUN! And nothing combats stress better than joyful play time. Plus taking 20 minutes to an hour just to pet your animal does wonders. I've lost myself more thoroughly doing petting than any amount of time spent "meditating".

My own preference is a dog, since going for a walk is also a great way to unwind.

Otter, I agree, and go a step further: the $300 is way better spent on meditation lessons.

You can't carry this machine around with you all day.

But you can carry the lessons of meditation anywhere.

After a while, you'll be aware of the stress in your body, and habitually reduce it, right then and there.

Finally, nothing else increases blood pressure over the years like our average salt intake.

Many middle-aged adults are too far gone to see dramatic results, even if they reduce their intake to 200 mg per day.

But your kids are another story. Keep them off the salt.

I own and use a Resperate unit. It's difficult for me to tell how much good it does, but notwithstanding a potential placebo effect, I suspect that I see a significant lowering of both systolic and diastolic pressures.

Unfortunately, that's when I take my pressure. In the Dr's office, I'm a textbook white coat hypertensive, which is why I'm on meds that I probably don't need.

Good luck with your decision. It's quite easy to use and relaxing. If it's not a money issue, it's quite possibly worth a try.
