Just got my Contec CMS-50E oximeter yesterday. The SpO2 levels look fine to me, but the software flagged a lot of pulse events:
On the other hand, I had it set to the default of a pulse event being a change of at least 6 bpm for at least 8 seconds so I'm wondering if that's just way too sensitive for tracking sleep? On the other hand, it does look like my pulse is dipping a lot, but maybe that's ok?

Try using a change of 15 BBM over 30 seconds. My cardiologist says that is still a very sensitive setting and likes a more generous setting. Still, the 15 and 30 setting will give a lot of false positives and that is better than missing something.

I try to do a nightly check once a month even after my Sleep Doc (not a Cardiologist like Hose's, but a real certified Sleep Medicine Doc) said that it's useless.

Should arousals show up as spikes in the heart rate? I've tried to align the oximeter graph with the flow graph but haven't had much sucess yet...

If your arousal is due to a desaturation, yes. If it is due to something else, maybe.

I wouldn't pay much attention to the text. The CMS50e is very sensitive to movement and just a twitch of the hand can fool it into thinking something has happened. Don't treat it as a diagnostic tool; it wasn't sold to you for that purpose. Think of the oximeter as an independent verification that your xPAP machine is doing its job. So long as your SPO2 chart remains above the 88% line and doesn't deviate too much, it is.
I have an appointment for my yearly checkup in a couple of weeks, so am recording oximetry data for several nights to show to the sleep doc. At my 6 month checkup he was very pleased to see the oximetry data, and said he'd like to see more of his patients use one. But he looked at the charts, not the text in the reports.

Are you setting the clock on the 50E when you start recording. The 50F keeps it's time but on my 50H I had to set it every night.
I copy screen shots to an excel file and stretch them to line up the times.
