Hello all,
I have been using my CPAP now for a few months and am in love with the machine. I am consistently under 5 for the AHI and feel so much better than the time when I did not have the machine.
With that said though, I'm wondering if I have achieved the intended goal or should I actually be trying to get to 0.0? At the risk of sounding greedy, if there is even better sleep to be had, I want it!
A thank you to those who provided assistance to me a few months ago in getting settled in. It took a few weeks, but was well worth it!
Thanks,
Mike

Re: What is the goal?
I have been at this for a little over 2 years. I have had one night with 0.0 AHI. It was a fluke. I did nothing different.minelson33 wrote: should I actually be trying to get to 0.0?
While some people do reach 0.0 AHI fairly often, some never do. Personally I think it is an unrealistic goal. Even people with OSA diagnosis will have an apnea event sometimes.
Now if you were reporting still feeling crappy.... different story. Some people feel great with AHI of 4 to 5, others 3 to 5 and others say they need less than 1 or 2.
As long as I don't have any clusters of events I count the night a success since I discovered that for me 2 or 3 clusters makes me feel worse than the same number of events spread out over the night.

I think that you have reached a very enviable goal already. That is loving your machine, and feeling good. If you feel good now, what measure could you possibly use to measure feeling better between the AHI of under 5 to 0. The AHI will probably change daily from many factors and your feel good factor will probably change daily also. No way of knowing if your feel good factor is related to XPAP or other health issues.
