I think I may have discovered why I wake up with my mask on my pillow or bed. I was barely asleep last night when it happened and noticed that the air hose was under my right arm after I turned over to my left side my cpap machine was on edge and the mask was clear off my face. I don’t know if they have longer hoses but it seems like it would help if mine were longer since I am a wrestles sleeper. My hose measures just shy of 6’ in length. I suppose that the hose got under my arm in my sleep and is probably why the mask came of the other times. So far I have been able to get used to the mask and although I still get slight claustrophobic thoughts occasionally, it has not been as big a problem so I don’t think I have pulled it off in my sleep due to that.
Fortunately there was no water in my humidifier since my oxygen concentrator has it's own humidifier which I like better anyway because the air coming from it is room temperature and not heated.

Re: Removing my mask in my sleep
You have several ways to fix your problem...
Yes you can buy a longer hose..see cpap.com pictures.
To keep your mask on at night.. wear it for a few hours while watching tv or reading, around the house to get used to it..
tape or tie it to your head...wear gloves or mittens (you would not be able to unhook it)
Look up the search button at the top of the page and you will find all kinds of solutions, this is avery common problem.

Re: Removing my mask in my sleep
8 and 10 foot hoses are available. They will be the standard, non fancy.. non heated hoses though. Since you don't use water in the humidifier, it won't be an issue. Should you want to use water you would just need to use it in the old way with strictly only heated water. Easily changed on machine.

There are some at the auction but from a glance I didn't see any hot deals.

Re: Removing my mask in my sleep
Ebay sometimes has 10 foot hoses, but I really think you need a hose management system to avoid getting tangled up in it at night. Check out the Hose Boss on Pur-Sleep, it is well worth the $15. Also try to tape your mask to your face, or wrap a pantyhose leg around it, to prevent you getting it off easily. While trying to remove it, that should waken you enough to realize what you are doing. You also might need a different mask. If it is uncomfortable or leaks too much, you will unconsciously try to get rid of it.

Even if you don't have a "hose management system" be sure to tie the hose to something, or secure the CPAP machine so that you can't drag it off the table.

Re: Removing my mask in my sleep
OK, so what is a hose management system?? Is that something I can make up myself or something I need to purchase?
Whatever it is I think it would be better than just adding length to my existing hose and would likely just give me more to get tangled up with. Before I got a cpap I used to have similar problems with the oxygen line my cannula was hooked into.

Something like this. There are several brands and people often make homemade systems.Roger2 wrote:OK, so what is a hose management system??

Re: Removing my mask in my sleep
I think Ebay has a few, andI have also seen a Hose management system for sale in Harriet Carter catalogs, and I know the one in most recent Harriet Carter ctatlog is $19.98. If you are handy, you can make one a lot cheaper. Maybe another forum member can refer you to links for a few of those, I don't know how to search for topics yet, sorry. Some people make hose management system out of PVC pipe. If you travel a lot, you will want one you can take with you, Pur-Sleep Cozy-hose Boss is small and easily transported, will fit in your pocket, or you can make one with PVC pipe you can take apart to fit in your luggage.
