New PR System One CPAP -- How to see compliance?

Post by kayfouroh » Thu Jul 14, 2011 5:08 am

I replaced my S8 with a Philips-Respironics System One CPAP (model 150) yesterday and while the machine is great, I can't figure out how to see my nightly compliance like I could with the S8... I'd love to see my leak rate, AHI, AI, HI, etc. I've gotten into the clinical menu but that didn't give me much. My "Info" page is pretty much blank. Anyone know how to see nightly data?

Thanks

you would have been better off with the Elite... the DS150 doesn't show compliance. You'd need to get at least a PRO to get comparable information to your old Elite.

You need model DS350 which is the PR System One Pro with CFlex Plus to get full data as Cflame has said.
Edit for typo Model DS450 and not 350
Were you given the basic model under the impression it showed full data?

No, I didn't realize that not all machines display this data. This is only my second machine. DME is about 1 hr away so I'm not sure if it's worth it to even bother, since they are only open M-F 9-5 :\

Ditto.
Without data you have nothing to monitor to see if therapy is optimal or not. Can't see if leaks are impacting therapy. Flying blind.

They gave you the basic and cheapest model so they could make the highest profit. Examples of online prices below.

Type Low in discount box to see discounted price of $455 for the Pro.

The basic Plus machine you were given $295

Read this about what you can do when a dataless brick has been given.

This machine is not "great"! It's a brick. It will show you compliance, but NOTHING else. Since you are the one using the machine, I assume you already know what your compliance is and once the machine is paid for nobody else cares.

Take a look at this: http://maskarrayed.wordpress.com/2011/0 ... h-a-brick/

It will help you try to return this for a better machine. "what you should know before you meet your DME" in my signature below will help, too.

Thanks everyone! I'll give them a call when I get back from vacation to hopefully get the machine swapped out.

Well damn. I found out that another member on here (who is long gone by the looks of it) had a similar problem with my DME (Hampton Homecare)...

Not sure if it's even worth it to try to get them to budge, I'll try next week but I am probably going to have to just return the machine

Fight them and see if you can get a Pro or an Auto.

If you're going to actually use the machine for several years, and are willing to help manage your own care, it may be worth it to buy a PRS1 Auto online out of pocket just because of the better data available. Or at least watch craigslist or the online auction sites for a good deal.

You need to pay attention to the timing. The OP in the thread you cited had her machine OVER ONE YEAR when she tried to swap it out. Of course the DME wasn't going to budge. So don't take her experience to mean you are not going to be successful.

If you've had your machine less than a month, you have a very good chance of getting it swapped out. Call around and find out if another vender will provide you with a PR S1 Elite (at this point, you want to stick with PR S1's so you don't have to buy a new humidifier). If you can find one, take this brick back to the DME and give them an ultimatim--either switch it immediately for an Elite or take it back. (DO NOT do this if you don't have the promise of another machine, of course!).

Do this before you leave on vacation. The more days that pass, the lower your chances of getting a better machine.

Should that be DS450, Pugsy? I didn't think there was a DS350.

That's a BiPAP machine. You don't need a BiPAP and if insurance is paying, they will not cover it because it is not an E0601 machine. To get a biPAP, you have to "qualify" by "failing" (I know, I know, Roby Sue!) CPAP.
