3rd times a charm
Ok...so I got the new mask tonight from my DME. I ordered my APAP today from cpap.com and it should be in tomorrow. I am giving cpap a third try...and this time I am more motivated then ever. What brought about this new desire to give my therapy another try...? I just had surgery 4 weeks ago on my knee. While I was under the doctors had to hook me up to oxygen because my sleep apnea caused me to stop breathing and my oxygen tanked....they told me this after I came out of the anesthesia. That was enough to scare me...when I sleep at night....there is no one there to hook me up to oxygen just in case....so....it's time to give it another try and this time go all in. I look forward to the many discussions I know I will have here at cpaptalk.com and I also look forward to helping those out that have problems that I can address. Hello fellow cpapers!!!!

Welcome. I'm glad you're giving it another go. I'm sure you realize that if you weren't anesthetized you would have eventually woken up and taken a breath, but the constant low-level stress that puts on your system causes long term damage to your health. Even if you think you can survive without CPAP, the constant stress that OSA puts on your body takes its toll. Look for the blood pressure thread for just one side effect of untreated OSA.
I gave up CPAP because I thought I could get by without it and it was (is) such a hassle. Silly me .

I do understand that I would have woken up....but just the thought that my oxygen would get that low scares me.

Sometimes we have to be hit in the head with a brick to "get" it!
