Nuvigil side effect

Post by djr1215 » Sat Jul 09, 2011 9:52 am

I took Nuvigil for the first time yesterday and it really helped during the day. Unfortunately, the wakefullness effects lasted all night. I didn't get any sleep at all (literally NONE) last night. I've been able to doze a bit this morning, but not much. I notice that "difficulty sleeping" is one of the possible side effects. Did anybody else have this side effect? If so, how long did it last?

I haven't take Nuvigil but have been on Provigil for awhile now. When I started, I took the amount prescribed by me and it was way too much for my system. I backed way down on it and then gradually worked my way up to a dose that works for me. By that I mean, a dose that gives me the wakefulness effect during the day without compromising my sleep at night.

I have had to use a similar strategy with many of the medications I have been on. My body has a tendency toward being hypersensitive to drugs.

Nuvigil will keep me up at night, too. If I don't take it early in the morning I can't take it. I've been using it a long time and still have this side effect. You may want to halve the dose, be sure you take it as early as possible, or switch to Provigil which does not last as long. Good Luck.

Sorry. I didn't have that problem. But it did make me jittery the first few days. Now its leveled off. Don't feel "stimulated", but don't fall asleep during the day either.

I wasn't jittery or anything else, just never got sleepy Friday night.
I'll see how it goes after a few days and then, if necessary, talk to my doctor abut dosage.
