I totally disagree with the post that said 2 weeks wasnt long enough to adjust to a mask.. I have been thru 3 in three weeks and i can tell you in 2 night if it will work.. I am a very out spoken person so i walk in and demand a new mask so far they do what i ask... LOL
Good luck to you and be firm with themn...

Hey Janknitz - thank you SO MUCH for having that "Taming the Mirage Quattro" link in your signature - I've been struggling with my Quattro for about six weeks now - I knew I was wearing it too tight, but just wasn't sure what to do - so tonight I'll be giving your looser fit suggestions a try (I can't leave the dial all the way out to 24 - but I'll just assume that's why they put the dial there in the first place - to accomodate differently shaped faces). I'll post on your page how it goes for me

- thanks again - Roger

Does your insurance specify only this DME or can you choose another one and get the same level of reimbursement? Ask your insurance company if they have other approved DMEs in the area that you can switch to.

Your DME is lying about the mask. A single night with a mask that you can't make fit without leaks is enough. You might adjust to a mask if it's irritating your face or feels uncomfortable. Your face won't "grow into the mask" and stop the leaks. The mask won't change shape and adapt to your face, either. You should try all the possible ways to adjust it, though.

One way to help adjust the mask is to start CPAP, adjust the mask, and then see if you can relax your face, flex it, or whatever to make it leak. Then adjust the mask to fit. I find I "tense up" into my mask when I put it on. Then when I relax in my sleep I tend to get leaks. Be sure to adjust the mask at full pressure. Do not use the ramp when adjusting the mask.

By the way, some people have reported that getting their face too clean increases leaks.

They're lying about downloading the data. The only data to download from an escape is how when the machine was turned on.

As far as them taking a bath on the unit, ask them if they understand the term "rental." With almost any insurance, it's a rental unit. They'll give the old unit to their next victim. It's quite common for someone to try CPAP and give up on it quickly, leaving them with a rental return unit.

See if you can trick the DME into giving you the packaging for the machine, masks, etc. They will often steal things like different size nasal pillows included in the packaging, manuals, etc. Maybe you can simply act fastidious and get more of what you paid for. It is nice to have the correct packaging for storage, etc.

By the way, ComfortGel and ComfortGel Blue masks are labeled on the plastic frame with the name.

Be sure that you don't sound like an irate crazy patient, but an unhappy customer giving feedback to the insurance company that this supplier is damaging their reputation.
