Re: First night with my Twilight NP/Aura
I am amazed at the people who are fans of this awful piece of CPAP interface. I have an S9, and the huge opening in the Twilight/Aura/Everest/Evo whatever mask (I suspect they change the name to dodge all the bad reviews of it) causes an 'unacceptable leak' according to the S9, even when firmly seated on my nostrils. The leak is HUGE and is deemed unacceptable by the S9 regardless of setting it at 'full face', 'pillows', 'nasal cpap', etc. PLUS the noise of the turbulent flow jetting out of this thing is huge. Current CPAP masks use a large number of small holes to control the rate of the outflow of flush air AND to cause diffuse of the turbulence so it's not noisy. This thing comes from some stone-age design. I've tried to come up with my own diffuser modification but so far, no luck . . .
Re: First night with my Twilight NP/Aura
I had zero leaks on the s9 with the Headrest. On the S9 as well.
Something is wrong with the interface you have.

Re: First night with my Twilight NP/Aura
I suspect either it is not fitting correctly (wrong size pillows) or the plastic support piece inside the mask is broken.

I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Chitowndude, I suppose you've run the "Mask-fit" routine for three minutes. Are you saying you get the "red frowny face" when you do the Mask-fit routine described in the clinical manual?

Perhaps yours had a manufacturing defect?
Sorry it's giving you trouble.

There's no "huge opening" that I can find on any of my several Headrest/Twilight NP/Aura (all those are names for the same mask.) There are 5 little holes that the air exhausts out of at the vent, but no single "huge opening" that I could see.Chitowndude wrote:the huge opening

Re: First night with my Twilight NP/Aura
I very rarely experience any leaks with my Headrest mask.
When I first started using it, I was using the wrong nose-piece...and the fit was incorrect. I experimented with the other nose-piece and got a better seal when I started using it.
I suspect that your sealing difficulty stems from an incorrect angle of "nose-piece to nares".....and here's an "off the wall" method of finding the best angle.
Purchase some Lansenoh (nursing mom's nipple lanolin) and apply (an amount equal in volume to a pencil eraser) to your nares....to lubricate them....and to help the nose-piece bellows seal.
Remove the nose-piece from the mask assembly and fit it to your nares....while watching yourself in a mirror. Put your thumb over the open end of the nose-piece...and pressurize your nasal cavity with your diaphragm. Try to make the nose-piece leak......while at the same time you experiment with different angles of "nose-piece to nares".
You'll find the perfect angle...because it'll be the most comfortable....and will not leak even when you apply more air pressure than your CPAP machine can produce.
If you have to bend the wire inside the nose-piece to change the angle of the bellows, do so. Do whatever it takes to get things to line up perfectly.
Once you have figured out the best angle and best fit, make the necessary modifications or adjustments to the head-gear....so that when you re-attach the nose-piece, everything will line up correctly with your nares. You may even find (like Rested Gal) that you want to detach the nose-piece from the head-gear,,,,and run "topless" (decapitated) like she does.
Once you get the thing adjusted correctly, you'll join the bunch of us who won't use anything else. Nothing beats the Headrest for comfort and effective therapy.

Re: First night with my Twilight NP/Aura
I missed that the first time. This happened to me too. There is a 'D' shaped piece that has the 6 or 7 exhaust holes in it that can come loose. I have a post and a picture on this forum showing where this 'hole' is and what that piece looks like.rested gal wrote:There's no "huge opening" that I can find on any of my several Headrest/Twilight NP/Aura (all those are names for the same mask.) Mine broke loose in the middle of the nite. I put on my spare mask and lucky for me, was able to find the missing piece in the morning and glue it back it.
If that's it I'm sure it is noisy as all hello and no pressure buildup in the mask.
