Mask Sizing

Post by Isaacrn » Thu Jun 23, 2011 4:59 pm

I have a question for you all. I had a Medium Respironics ComfortGel Nasal mask that made my skin break out. I picked up the ResMed Mirage Softgel in its place and the DME gave me a Large even thought he other mask was a Medium. He said that that was the actual sizing of the mask. I have used it for over a week and it has done me great ( except for some plastic rubbing that squeeks at times). I do have a question if any of you use the mask. It seems a bit big, in that it sits lower on the lip for me. The DME had said that there is a great deal more material on the mask than the respironics one. I just didnt know if its par for the course.

I was thinking of possibly picking up the Respironics TrueBlue Nasal Mask, and am really unsure if i should go with a Medium or not. Has anyone else seen this new mask? Is it just me or is it crazy to own multiple masks?

If you plan to order the mask from cpap dot com say, order it over the phone and you'll see how helpful they can be. They're familiar with most masks and will be able to answer your questions. You can even buy 'insurance' to ensure you can return your purchase for another size, mask, etc.

To answer your last question - - it is NORMAL to own multiple masks.

How many masks do you have? / How many do you use?
--An interesting topic for a poll. . . .

At one time I had 8 masks and they were all of the nasal pillow or prong variety. I call that my experiment phase.
Elected to never go down the over the nose mask or full face mask road or I would have had more. I was perfectly happy with Swift LT at that time. Just wanted to try the others just in case I was missing something.

It is a rare person who hasn't at least felt the need to try something else.
