Hmm Nan .. I don't quite understand this. When you are having a sleep study, they raise your pressure until the episodes stop. That is how they know where to set your pressure. So if I raise my pressure, and it gets to the point where it is now working properly again, the episodes should stop that night and show a decent AHI. If it took a week for a change to take effect, a sleep study would need to be a week long .... How am I incorrect with what I just said ? Thanksnanwilson wrote:You should not change your pressures willy-nilly. Meaning....make a change of .5 or 1, then try it for a week, if that doesn't help, do it again, but you need to stay at one setting for 5 to 7 days to see any differences. Case in point,my machine is set from 10 to 13 my ahi is usually 0.0, but Monday night it was 0.8, and my flow was way off and hitting 13 all night. I paniced immediately and thought I had better raise my max to 15 tonite. But I chewed on it all day, by bedtime I thought hmmmm could have been just me....I know better than to panic after one night of different numbers. I just got up and read my results for last night ahhhh I'm back to 0.0, so it was just a freak of a night. What I'm trying to say is stick to a setting for a few nights, then if its still not working, raise it again until you get to where you need it. You can't see if a change works or not in just one nights data. My biggest advice would be to see a doctor...its definitely time to do that you may have an underlying health problem.
Good luck and cheers
Nan
Why is my AHI high ?

Yes they do that, BUT, they have you hooked up to all kinds of monitors, EEH, ECG, etc. They know what they are doing, we, on the other hand are experimenting with our pressures to find the optimum spot and should test each experiment out for a few days to ensure there are no other problems at the same time.

Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.
Re: Why is my AHI high ?
Just upping pressure can lead to other issues like setting off central apneas. I'd be curious to know if you are having O2 desats that are contributing to these high numbers. If your doctor could order an overnight oximetry test (inexpensive and easy to do), or if you can get yourself a recording oximeter, you could monitor this to be sure it isn't some new problem cropping up.
I still stand by my previous recommendations, though.... get the machine checked out, get someone to read the comprehensive data from the machine card, and double check for leaks in your hose.

Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.
