Newbie Question About Cpap Software

Post by John Galt » Sun Jan 29, 2006 7:04 pm

I have been a cpap user for 6 months. I was given a Respironics Remstar Pro cpap with a passover humidifier and a Comfort Lite mask. I have read in this forum about the use of MyEncore software to better understand how I am sleeping. Can I use this with my equipment? If not, should I change equipment? I wonder if I was given an obsolete system?

if you have a pro 2 then you can get data

look at the threads about encore pro and my encore such as

viewtopic.php?p=38617

if you have a pro (not 2) then all you can get is number of hours your machine is used

in order to use myencore you have to have encore pro and a smart card reader

The resmed machines all display a nights summary data on their readout panels.
The S7 Elite & Spirit + 2 of the dearer S8 models all allow download of the nights data either using a datacard or a serial link. The data card is the better option on the S8s. The Software is called AutoScan & although some here don't seem to like it, the screens are very easy to read and make for easy monitoring.

The Remstar AUTO models and the Remstar Pro 2 allow download of the data to a PC - My Encore attempts to make the Remstar data more readable. In Encore Pro you can't display the data on the pc screen but have to print a paper report to see the detail. MyEncore soles that problem.

The PB420S & PB420E & PB425 all allow download of the night's data to a PC. The software is called Silverlining and although I haven't yet looked at it myself, it appears to be highly regarded.

Good luck.

Encore Pro can't display data on a computer screen????
Does on mine, darlin'.

For the year that I used two REMstar Autos (one with C-Flex and one without), I used only Encore Pro. I looked at my data almost every morning with Encore Pro. Right there on my computer screen. I didn't have to print it out to see the data.

I've never used MyEncore. Derek created a wonderful add-on program that many find useful. However, I was satisfied with the amount of information shown in the "daily details" graph and chart with Encore Pro alone.

Here's a screenshot of one night's graph from Encore Pro taken off my computer's screen:

Probably.

In a letter dated April 18, 2005, Respironics stated that the REMstar Pro would be considered obslolete as of June 30, 2005. The letter also states: "This date is dependent on inventory and the product will be considered obsolete once inventory is depleted."

Hope that answers your question.

I received my REMstar Pro on June 8, 2005. If it was considered obsolete within 3 weeks, should I push my DME for a replacement, or is that a lost cause?

Nice Night, On the REMstar Pro 2, I don't get the FL data. Is the pressure rise on your data the result of the leak or vice verse? The old Chicken and the Egg Question. It seems the higher my snore rate the higher my AHI. Still at AHI 1.3 I can't complain, for CPAP. I have found taking a Aspirin before bed helps my AHI, calms me down probably.

Use data to optimize your xPAP treatment!
