I need an opinion for SleepyHead

Post by jedimark » Tue Jun 07, 2011 6:03 am

Note the candlestick graphs have gone into the HTML Info "Details" box on the left. These mini candlesticks are a static snapshot taken of the real ones. The "real" candlestick's still there, just hidden.

Is this a good or a bad thing?

I was also thinking, to declutter the details tab a bit, I could set the default to be a bit wider.
For instance I could show IPAP/EPAP/LEAK/PULSE/SPO2's Min, Max & Avg values on one line each in tabular format.
The layout of the entire Details tab is just plain old (code generated) HTML.

The individual graph snapshot capability here will come into play later on with printer support. (It technically redraws the graph to any bitmap of any resolution, so very suited for printouts)

I like it with the bars over on the side, but I like the first version more than the second version, with the different indices in text rather than colored blocks.

Hmm.. I think I need to put some serious thought into a skin/theme-ing system.

One little niggling detail that needs to be corrected: IPAP and EPAP are backwards. IPAP is the HIGHER of the two pressure settings and EPAP is the lower. So correct that little bug, will ya?

Now for the rest: Excellent layout! I prefer the wider pane for the flow data myself, so cast my vote for the narrower side bar. But that might be because I'm using a small netbook for keeping and looking at my data. One future idea to consider: Could you make it possible to hide/unhide that sidebar with the detailed data numbers so that those of us using really small screens can easily get a wider angle view of the flow data?

Very, very nice work, jedimark.

The graph labeled "Mask Leaks" ... I'd label it "Leaks" since it could just as easily be air leaks through the mouth (if not wearing a FF mask.)

It would also be nice if we could hide/unhide specific graphs, with the remaining ones automatically expanding vertically.

Crap your right! Exhalation pressure is supposed to be reduced to stop fighting against pressure.. Doh!
Fixed in source code as of now.

You could previously drag and redock stuff. I broke it with the tab view under the calendar.. Hide/Unhide a good idea. I'll see if wxAUI can already do the dirty work for me there..

Noted and done..

I just added Snore graph.. I forgot what VSnore2 was all about.. I was ignoring the 0's because Encore only looked at values higher than this in their sleep flags.. 0's count too in graphing.

GREAT JOB. jedimark

Had a few comments...
Why not have a resolution button giving the use a choose - - Would be plus for a oldfart like me!

Love the machine settings list... < Having two systems that would make it easier to see if both are set the same!>

Seems like each mask has a leak rate at each range of pressures that is a plug-in of Encore ,OR did I miss that item?

Being a HTML base will this software be MAC compatable?

Resolution button? Not getting what you mean. If you want the fonts to be bigger, you can adjust them in your operating systems control panel. I tried to make sleepyhead work on small resolutions and screens (because a lot of people use netbooks) That said, I develop on a 24" monitor at max resolution and like small fonts.

Sleepyhead is designed to be used by one person per profile.. If you have two machines you use alternately, it will work fine without you having to do anything (In the future, they can even be separate brands) To support say for instance your partners machine as well, Sleepyhead will require another profile for them (And I haven't implemented the profile creation & changing features yet.. they are there underneath)

I'm assuming your refering to Intentional leak calculations like Encore can be configured to display. I'm not able to replicate Encores calculations here. I have a feeling subtracting the mean will provide adequate indication of change in leaks. I just don't think this well help new cpap users who have tend to have big leaks at the beginning, so I leave it set showing overall for now.

Indeed runs on Mac.. Starting to work very nicely now.. There's a build, but it needs updating.
HTML is only used for presentation of the display summary windows.. Sleepyhead is written in 100% cross platform C++ code..
If you want to try a web based software solution, try Onkor, which runs anywhere with a decent web-browser.

Okay here's another few queries..:

1) When moving graphs, there simply isn't enough grunt on the windows platform builds to move them all together at once.. Lots of updates per second redrawing nearly the whole screen..

What if just the graph you were moving was updated, and all the other graphs that were linked jumped to where you finished moving to?

Would that compromise suck? (_All_ related graphs could be linked then)

2) The little green bars under the graphs that show the section of graph your looking at.. What if you could click and drag them to quickly scan over the whole range. (Like a scroll bar)
(I've already done this in source code, I just wanna know if anyone thinks the idea sucks.)

3) Dang it. I forgot.
