ResMed Series S9 Elite w/humidifier

Post by beth1954 » Sat Jun 04, 2011 9:00 pm

I just got a new machine today and it so loud compared to my very old machine. This is very fancy schmancy but a very loud blowing air sound......
Now I know my cats want to kill me. They unplugged my CPAP machine.......true story.

Better have it checked out as something may be very wrong with it if you hear that much noise. I have the RESMED 9 Auto Set and it is so quiet --I can't tell that it is even on. Should not hear anthing.

I wonder if you have an air leak? Check the humidifier chamber to see if it is inserted properly, then give some more clues.

I will check it all out better when I get home tonight. I had spent the night with my daughter and it was the first night I used it. Tonight when I get home I'll do more "investigating" on it. I hope it's ok. But I just got it Friday so I should be able to bring it back. When it worked, it worked really well, but also the lid to the humidifier kept popping open and the machine would stop. There was a message on the screen telling me to shut the lid. So I shut it, it snapped shut, and then later on did the same thing. I had a horrible night's sleep because I was messing with it all night long it seems.................. Argh.

Sounds like your humidifier chamber is simply not seated correctly. Or the chamber's not closed correctly, the seals are screwed up, etc. Take it out, look it over carefully, take a look at the connectors where the air goes in and out, etc.

Be sure and fix it. You may not be getting the correct pressure at your mask if you've got a bad leak.

Yeah, I'll check that all out tonight when I get home. I spent the night at my daughter's house and today I'm at work for awhile.......Thanks. I hope I figure it out, because when it worked right, it seemed like I'll really like it. My pressure is at 14, so it was nice having it adjust to other pressures, AND letting me breathe out without having to breathe AGAINST the #14 setting! See, I'm still a happy camper. Just snapped for a minute over the political stuff.

The seal in the lid comes out, so it may not be seated correctly and could interfere with it latching completly.
If you don't find the problem, disconnect it and see how quiet the s9 is without the humidifier.

Can you list your equiment in TEXT, your title says Elite, your sig pic leads to the Escape, and your post indicates you have an Autoset.

There's a separate piece that is in the lid that goes over the humidifier?

It's a silicon seal that fits in the lid. It's white, you will see it. It just pulls off to replace and may not be on all the way.
Or there is a problem with the latch tabs. Does the slide latch go all the way to the left when you latch it? It should on it's own but when I close mine, I press down on the lid and slide the latch to be sure it's closed.

And people think I'm an idiot bc I ask people to put into the post what equipment they are writing about?

"See my sig" is not good bc it can and does often change, then the post is no longer accurate. Guess I'm the only idiot who has eery figured that out?

Ummmmmm.... "Gumby" I'm sorry about that. I have had it for a day and a half. The booklets that come along with it are for several different types. I will look at the machine itself when I am home and find out for you.
