third month follow up with the Doctor

Post by brothermike » Mon May 30, 2011 5:43 pm

I forgot my appt. and haven't had the opportunity to call...Holiday and weekend....this is the one that I'm supposed to go to after having used my machine for 3 months. Does anyone have any idea what may happen with my insurance?

I did send in the data card on time the first time, as instructed.
Surely I'm not alone.

If you are on Medicare, the doctor is supposed to meet with you face to face sometime after the 30th day and before the 90th day to prove compliance.

I have a feeling that this "face to face" meeting is often fudged--it may be simply a matter of an office assistant calling you to make sure you're still breathing, if that. But that's really not the intent of the Medicare guideline and MIGHT cause issues with your compliance documentation.

So call tomorrow and reschedule the appointment, for what it's worth.

I wouldn't think it should be a problem if you call and reschedule. And no, you're not the only one to miss an appointment.

Thanks for the feedback...I feel a little better about my chances of maintaining insurance coverage after hearing from youse......called 'em today from work (no I am not a medicare recipient...BCBS... ) Next appt. opportunity is sometime in Sept.!....put a call in to my DME...waiting for a response there....meanwhile...I still have my set up and I'm still using it religiously with great results!
I do still think that my atrial fibrillation will be alleviated with this therapy...and that is already has been ...er...mitigated?...lessened...reduced...diminished...improved?....whatever...and I'm a happy camper and so glad to have this group with which to commiserate. (poor choice of words there, I guess)
