I'm so glad you said that. I am thinking of getting a second machine so I don't have to cart one back and forth and was going to ask you at some point if you were going to get your ideal machine which it would be. Now I know it isn't the S9 : )

You know how much I love my beloved Respironics AFlex but I respect your experience and knowledge. I'd seriously consider any machine(s) you recommend.

Hey Guys! I got my S9 Elite today with heated humidifier and heated tubing, the pressure is adjusted to 7...I felt comfortable with lt nasal pillow for her. This will be my first night with it, so wish me luck! I hope I will be one of those people who get used to it easily.

My first night was great, I slept about 7 hours with it. The second night I slept 9 hours with it and felt wonderful in the morning. Last night, I slept about 7 hours, but very uncomfortable. My nose was sore and I felt very congested. So, I am thinking, maybe I should get a full face mask for a back up. Although the full face wouldn't be my first choice, I guess that is the only option for me now.

Thank you for checking on me JCARN and GASP! I am doing fine, just my nose has been pretty sore and last night it was very congested , so I didn't get a good sleep night.

Is the congested nose from a cold or allergies? Or if as a result of wearing the mask at night you might make sure your humidifier is working and delivering adequate moisture. Dry air into the nose can cause stuffiness/congestion. You'll know when you have your humidifier set too high as it will deliver droplets of water or too much moisture. In my opinion the setting for the humidifier is one number down from the number that makes water droplets. But then I live where it's dry. When I lived where the humidity was higher I had it on the lowest setting.

Your nose should not be sore from the Swift LT--that usually means it's too tight. Check out my fitting tips for the Swfit FX in my signature below--the same tips work for the LT as well.

And try a little Lanisoh or KY jelly to soothe your nose. Some people use it on their nose with the mask to cut down on friction and help make a good seal, but that has never worked well personally for me. I use the Lanisoh on my nose in the morning if it feels sore or dry.

The humidity may need to be turned either up or down to stop the nasal congestion (unless you're also having allergies or a cold). You have to play around with that for a while to find the right setting. Some people only use their humidifier in passover mode (no heat). For me, it's like the three bears. One setting (3) is too high, another (1) is too low, but the one I use (2) is JUST RIGHT.

And make sure you are doing nasal rinses, perhaps other things (oral antihistamines or steroid nasal spray) if needed to keep the congestion down.

But it is always a good idea to have a FF mask on hand for allergy season and colds.

Okay, why the S9 Elite instead of the S9 Autoset, which yes costs more, but it is an automatic.

I think it was too tight! I read everything that you have recommended and I am still having a hard time with it. If I don't wear it tight, it leaks a lot of air and when I wear it tight, it hurts my nose. The mask itself is very comfortable. the less on my face the better I like! I am going to play with it and try to find less leak-comfortable adjustment.

You are so wonderful to set up those web pages for the others. Thank you for thinking of others, especially the new ones like me. It is much appreciated!!!
