Re: Dr. Barry Krakow Interview on Complex Insomnia & UARS
De lure of sleep was drastically tweaked w/the conversation on ASV.
To hear Krakow say that his sleep had improved w/the ASV
was huge, for me. The fact that in his practice he is Rx'ing
10% bipap
60% auto bipap
30% ASV
That is amazing.
I think I may be in the group of fragmented REM sleepers.
Although my therapy has been very successful and I am
very comfortable w/straight cpap, I never sleep for
more than a few hours w/out waking. I usually return
to sleep w/little time lost, but it is fragmented.
So, forget the S9.....a bipap/ASV for me???
De lure of sleep is a potent drug, unto itself.
I was disappointed that there was not more discussion
about his Sleep Dynamic therapy.
He made a quick comment about images in treating insomnia.
In the year that I have been using his Sleep Dynamic techniques,
they continue to impact my sleep and in some situations, my life.
Dr. Krakow has profoundly enabled me to improve my sleep.
Too bad this Dr. Park/Dr. Krakow dialogue couldn't be a weekly thing.

"If your therapy is improving your health but you're not doing anything
to see or feel those changes, you'll never know what you're capable of."
I said that.

I caught that ASV comment too. I have long said that BiPap is the ultimate in exhale relief. I too have the fragmentation thingy going on. So this makes me think I can do better.

I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Re: Dr. Barry Krakow Interview on Complex Insomnia & UARS
I bet that's why my former doctor switched me from bipap to asv. He never told me why (or even that I was being switched and nothing in the records that were forwarded to my new doctor indicated a reason. But he did know that I have PSTD, and kept trying to tell me that I was having "emotional issues" dealing with xpap because I was asking about my AHI and other information I didn't have access to. I kept reminding him at that last appointment that I was being perfectly compliant and not having issues but he didn't agree.
Perhaps he did do the right thing. During my titration study for the bipap and ASV I kept waking up with nightmares. It took me about three weeks to tolerate the ASV but five weeks after starting it, I am definitely falling asleep sooner and waking up less. Most of my central apneas were clustered around the arousals.
Dang, I hate admitting he was right.
