Dropped hose in toilet

Post by mxylplik2 » Mon Jan 23, 2006 9:39 am

I was washing my mask with my hose tucked under my arm and then I accidently dropped about 6-7 inches of the hose in the toilet (nothing in the toilet). I washed it with dishwashing liquid and soaked it in vinegar overnight but not sure if I should keep it. The hose has a tube inside to monitor airflow for the APAP - so it might be a little more expensive. I don't mind spending $40 for a new one. Reminds me of a Seinfeld episode.

It's kinda funny you should mention that. I was cleaning my mask and hose yesterday, and had the hose hanging over the top of the door while cleaning the mask. At that point i had a mental image of the hose falling from hanging over the door into the toilet!! Immediately i put the lid down on the toilet, and now i will just drape the hose around my neck while cleaning the mask.
Although a little funny, i'm sorry to hear that happened. I think i would get a new hose as well. ALL the cleansing in the world, of the hose, wouldn't cleanse the knowledge from my mind, that the hose was in the "can"

Hey, Mike M. , what's your take on this?

God bless,
Terry

Sounds to me like you got it pretty well disinfected. I wouldn't worry about it. (especially since there wasn't anything in the bowl at the time)

I've known lots of people who walked around the office all day long with their noses a lot closer to "the source" and it didn't seem to bother THEM.

Good luck,

Nothing to worry about.

According to my dog that's a perfectly viable source of water.

I knew a guy who would just say "Turn it around and use the other end!"

Thanks for the laugh, I needed that.

On a similar note I was watching my friend's 11 year old Saturday night. He was in the computer room with me behind me on my exercise machine. I was reading posts here and he saw the logo at the top and wanted to know why I was at CRAP TALK. (I guess from a distance the P could look like an R?) I think we can all relate to looking at a word and seeing something different)

Similar experience here. Early on in treatment I entertained the idea of flushing my CPAP down the toilet.

I suppose if alligators had apnea there might have been one less snoring reptile beneath our streets...

My take is that you should drop your CPAP in the toilet too, so it will be accepted by your dog.

This is why I clean my hose and mask in the kitchen sink.

Mike I just love your comments.

I'm thinking about what George Costanza would do. Maybe he would use the hose to cover the Festivus pole?! They say the spray from the flush of a toilet infects the entire bathroom; so if your toothbrush is on the counter, you've already been there and done that! (Yuck!) With that said, I think you SHOULD replace the hose (and the toothbrush!)......

I'm glad you brought that up.....I had an after thought about that.....
Also, from what I've read, your computer keyboard is loaded with germs, too.

Used to have a dog... Now I just have a CPAP-compliant pet alligator.

My toilet seat that has a lid. I just put it down and nothing falls in that shouldn't. Maybe you should see if they offer something like that where you are.
