Looking for a used machine

Post by sleepytime76 » Thu May 19, 2011 12:57 am

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum and was referred by someone on another site. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea a few months ago, and my state insurance won't cover my machine, as they don't cover durable medical equipment. I'm looking for a used machine so that I don't have to pay Walgreens $110 a month for the one I have now. Does anyone have one to sell?

Thanks!

Shannon

That's smart that you registered on this forum. As a registered member, you'll be able to receive Private Messages. It's very possible that several people might PM you with info about a machine they have, or know of, that's for sale.

I guess you've already been checking Craig's List in your area.

Since you have a prescription, you might also want to check cpapauction.com
Used machines (and new ones that go for low prices) often are up for auction.

I see them frequently for $100 (dated cpap) to $800 (new auto bipap) depending on type in the St. Louis craigslist. I actually purchased a bipap as my backup machine this way. If you don't find any in your area, I would be glad to assist you in acquiring one from this area for no additional fee.

Sorry to hear they are hitting you with $110 per month. I was not even aware that Walgreens provided that service. You may also want to check out http://secondwindcpap.com

Craigslist has a lot for sale in your area (mostly Remstars). You may want to get some help from others in the forum regarding the exact machine you are looking at to assure you get one that's of a good quality for the money (I have no clue on that).

I bought a used machine from second wind cpap for camping and I highly recommend them.

I've got several S8 Autos with humidifiers. I can certainly beat the prices that the "Second" site advertises.

PM me if your interested.

Shannon, something else you might try... start asking EVERYone you come in contact with in your town this question... "Do you know anyone who uses, or has used, a CPAP machine for sleep apnea?"

Ask the checkout clerk at the grocery store, ask the person behind the counter at the 7/11 store, ask people at church if you attend, ask all your friends and neighbors. You might get lucky and hear this: "Oh, yeah, my brother has one but he never uses it." You might find that someone right there in your town is willing to give you a machine they quit using.
