Is this worth purchasing?

Post by danshiplett » Thu May 19, 2011 5:03 am

I have been lurking for about a month and have found this site quite valuable. As you can see in my profile the current CPAP I am using using is not fully data capable. I have found one on craigslist at what I see as a reasonable price. It is listed as.....

Complete CPAP Machine and new attachments. Brand new headgear, mask and hose still in packages !!!!!! These alone are valued at over $300. Respironics Ds500hs - Remstar Auto M-Series with Humidifier-smartcard. Built in heater and humidifier.Manuals included.

This originally listed for $500 and has been dropped to $350.

So, Is this a good deal? Is it fully data capable? and if I purchase the software will I be able to change the setting I need to?

I would appreciate any quick response I can get, I would like to try and pick this up today as I have the day off...Woo Hoo!

yes it's fully data capable... you'll need a special card reader... a MAKO DT3500 Infineer and the software.

It is my understanding that the Pro models and the Auto models give full data, and the plus models give compliance only.

It can be found online for $500 new but that would not include a tube and mask. At $350 it is not a bad deal assuming it is well taken care of.

I only paid $150 for mine & it only had 250 hours on it---- do you realize that the M series has been discontinued.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

I understand it has been discontinued. I have been searching for something that is full data capable, so I know there will be some trade off in price and machines available.

You can buy a brand new DeVilbiss IntelliPAP Auto for not much more than that. Here's a link to the listing at Bestcpapprice.com. I believe our hosts (CPAP.com) will match the price.

radaddict, thanks for the info. I am not using a prescription, that is why am looking on craigslist. I have my first follow-up with my dr. next week, I am going to pursue a new prescription for something fully data capable. Although after reading a lot of the post on here it may be a difficult task to get a different machine.
