I survived until 5am!!
I survived until 5am!!
Usually I wake up around 3:30 but this morning I slept till 5. I have a red mark between my nostrils where the pantyhose rested... it's still there now. Is there anything to do other than let it take care of itself eventually?

Congrats on getting to 5am!
As far as the red mark between your nostrils "where the pantyhose rested"---are you using the pantyhose as an anti-leak strap or as a mask liner to fit between the nasal pillows part of the Liberty and the area between your nose and upper lip?
If the problem is irritation from the pillows part of Liberty, you could see if Padacheek could design a pillows cozy for the Liberty if you're not handy with a sewing machine yourself.
As for treating the irritation that's already there: Lanisoh might help it heal and should protect it from getting worse.

i'm using the pantyhose as an anti-leak strap once i get the pillows adjusted. That Lanisoh is soooo hard to squeeze out of the tube.robysue wrote:Congrats on getting to 5am!

Wait till the tube is 2 years old like mine. Feels like I am trying to squeeze cement tube but the ointment itself hasn't changed.dusty0318 wrote:That Lanisoh is soooo hard to squeeze out of the tube.
BTW Congratulations on surviving till 5 AM. Every success is important.

Should be an interesting discussion with your coworkers.
"Hey, Dusty, you've got a red mark on your face.
Oh, that's just where my panty hose rub when I sleep."
Could be interesting for female or male CPAPers.

Re: I survived until 5am!!
A potentially silly sounding tip on getting the Lanisoh out of its tube: I've noticed that lanolin gets HARD when it's cold (as in normal room temps of 68--74 degrees) but gets much softer and much easier to get out of the tube when it's warmer (as when we hit 80 degrees a few days ago and the house got warm). I have found that in order to warm the Lanisoh up enough to make it easier to squeeze out of the tube when the house is "cold", I can knead the tube by rubbing it between my hands for a few minutes to warm it up just a bit or I run some hot water in the bathroom sink and let the (unopened) tube sit in the warm water for a few minutes if my hands are hurting.

Re: I survived until 5am!!
Dusty,
First off, I have to say I havent been here in awhile and couldnt evern remember my userID so had to create this one... I came back because I wanted to share a tip with liberty users i discovered 2 months ago... and had great success since. Found this posrt by searching liberty...
Let me start by telling you some brief history.. I started out with a chin strap and nasel pillows... no worky... despite the chinstrap my lips still opened giving extreme dry mouth. I tried full face (several) and they tear up the bridge of my nose despite the comfort level being good (and mole skin).
Tried the liberty, was fine for awhile, but over short period of time, I found my nose pieces always leaking after about 2-3 hours...drove me nuts and off it would come. I discovered that when I would go to sleep, I would have the mouth part high on my top lip which kept the nasel pillows firmly planted in my nose. Over the course of the night, the headgear shifts a bit and the mouth piece would slide down alittle leaving the pillows loose...hence the leaks. I have seen all sorts of people tieing string to the pillows and tieing to the top of the gear etc etc.. The answer is quite simple... the upper side straps (the ones with the long plastic pieces) that would normally go across the cheeks and velcro next to the ears..... velcro in a different position... when you put the mask on (hopefully with the bottom straps already in a decent position and the top straps loose, nose pieces in nose... push and hold the mouth piece on the upper lip with just a small gap of flex room of the pillows shaft. Tilt head back slightly and snug the upper straps towards your forhead so the long plastic pieces will rest right along the sides of your eyes. Doing this, your mask will fit good and snug but not to tight.... if the mouth piece is hurting your upper lip from pressing against teeth, its too tight. Doing this, I can sleep on my side as well. I no longer have nasel pillow leaks... what an awesome feeling!
I have had 2 months of success first wearing my mask for atleast 4 hours (session) per night but avg'ing 5.5 per night. This is the best streak I have ever been on.. with this mask, either you love it or hate it...however I dont seem to have alot of choice...it is working for me.
Good luck to ya!

Re: I survived until 5am!!
oh oh oh... i almost forgot the cleaning tip...
I rarely ever take my mask apart. I use the little moist wipes..unscented... then dry off with washcloth till when you rub finger across the seal, it grabs (being dry). Also, I only clean it with these like once every 3-4 days. Also, I will wipe my face of natural oils (i dont use soap) it will dry me out to much and will leave a red ring all day the next day...sux. Anyways, before I put mask on, I will get a dry washclotch and clean the mask.... until rub your finger across the seal and it grabs from being dry. Again, I only use the moist wipes about every 3-4 days.
We are all different, and you will find out what works for you...this is what I found out works for me.
