A Thank You...

Post by SnoozyQ » Fri May 13, 2011 7:24 am

I have learned so much from this board. So much that you just don't learn from the people in control of your care (!), but so much one NEEDS to know!
It gave me the knowledge and confidence IN that knowledge to take control of my own care, CHANGE it and improve my therapy. My LIFE.

And even better....I can share this info with others. I have a coworker that was given an S9 Elite Autoset with all the bells, whistles and supplies....but was told the machine wouldn't tell them their AHI! They set the pressure at 4-20 and that was it. So now I'm able to help someone who was just as lost as I was, looking at this 'stupid' machine wondering what to do with it.

Thank you to everyone, for your patience, generosity and collective sharing of CPAP genius

(PS--And bc of the info from this board, and being able to change my therapy and get my life back, did I mention I participated in a 5K (fundraiser for brain tumor research) a few weeks ago? I walked, didn't run, but I did it and finished in under an hour. And I even did the "family fun walk" of 1.5 miles a couple of hours later!)

Congratulations on your "walks". Also congratulations on the way you feel. I sense a huge amount of positive feelings in your comments and I know that this does mean a lot to you. Feels good to help someone else doesn't it?
Well done. I am happy for you.

Good for you SuzyQ. Yes, this forum has been the place for me to really learn about my therapy and machine. I like being empowered to look at my own numbers, how I slept and how I feel that day and make treatment decisions based on up to date information. I can send my data card to the techs at the doctors office, but they really aren't interested on my day to day well being. The doctor has failed to make changes despite lousy numbers. Thanks to the folks on this forum I am finally edging toward an AHI under 5- havent got there yet, but now I'm not in the teens and twenties, and my AI is much lower. I don't have to take Nuvigil every day, but I think I'm one of those folks with persistant hypersomnia and may well need it for the long term. Thanks to all who have helped with their posts, in particular the posts about the VPAP Auto 25.

Snoozy, thank you for participating in this very worthy cause. I lost my only sibling, my beloved younger sister, to this horrible disease. It feels good to pay it forward, doesn't it? Knowledge is Power!

SnoozyQ,

It is great to hear that you're doing so much better now! And congrats on those walks as well.

You and I started this crazy adventure about the same time as I recall, but I found this forum faster. I remember some of your early posts about how hard and difficult your adjustment was going. I'm tickled pink that you've made it and are feeling like you've got your life back! Keep up the good work!
