New User.... Amazed how I feel....

Hello All!

First off I want to thank you all for the great info on this board. I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea which I pretty much knew I had. My girlfriend was at wits end with my snoring and my co-workers at the fire department would tell me just how bad my gasping/snoring was. Sleep study confirmed this as they came in and put me on CPAP at 1030 pm after going to sleep at 9. They told me I had 68 events, longest one lasting 40 seconds, with O2 Sat's dropping to 78%. I have probably been this way for years.

What a difference this little machine makes! I feel wonderful. Fully rested when I awake. Energy all day, No naps needed, Less caffeine needed. I have been a Resp. Therapist and a Paramedic for over 20 years and am very familiar with OSA... but it took a push from my GF and co-workers to finally get the study and treat my OSA. I always used the excuse... "I can drop 20 pounds and it will be better"... and you know as well as I that when you don't sleep at night there is little energy at the end of the day to hit the gym.

I'm no longer in denial, I am and will be very compliant with my CPAP, I will still try and loose weight... and am just thankful for this resource.

Great news! Congrats!! I have been on cpap therapy since September 2010, and without trying, I have lost 20+ pounds, my glucose levels have dropped (I'm a diabetic) and my blood pressure has dropped. I found if you give it a chance, your body will slowly heal of the damage sleep apnea causes and you will continue to improve and feel better. Ain't no goin' back now!!
