Climate Control/ClimateLink tube

Post by pickmeupeveryday » Wed Apr 27, 2011 9:42 am

Hello there,

I been having some trouble recently with condensation/moisture in my SlimLine tube. I talked to VitalAire, my official CPAP dealer and they suggested a ClimateLink tube.

Has anyone benefited by switching their tube?

Thank you for addressing this matter.

Switching to a ClimateLine from a SlimLine eliminated any issues I was having with Rainout.

Now, that said, we really need to know what mask you are using and whether or not it incorporates some short hoses in its configuration to determine whether you are still likely to have rainout issues from the "unheated" portions of the tube -- i.e. for example with the swift FX you may need to add a cover for the short hose or one of the barrel cozies to eliminate rainout.

Is your machine sitting higher than your head? If it is either put it in a lower position or route your hose up over your headboard.......water runs downhill, Another tip use a hose cover, you can make one out of tube socks with the toe cut out, sew fleece tube, knit a tube, etc.
For condensation problems look up the word rainout in the search mode and for hose covers check out padacheek.com...Karen is a member here and she makes all kinds of stuff to help us out.
Good luck
Nan

I initially went with the Slimline tubing, but after a month or two bought the Climateline. It REALLY was worth the $50 or so to get maximally humidified air with zero rainout. You can probably get some improvement with a cozy, which I also use just to avoid the feeling of having a snake crawling on me (I hate snakes!), but with the Climateline, you just set your temperature to about 78*F and the machine controls the humidity level automatically.

I love the climateline tube, only way I would use my S9.

I like to turn the thermostat in my house down and need to turn the humidity on my s9 up, so Climateline tubing is very helpful. If you're having trouble with rainout, you'll find it useful. OTOH, a hoze cozy over your slimline tubing might do just as well.

I really started enjoying using my s9 when I bought the climateline hose. Don't wait 3 months like I did before you buy it.

I've been using the ClimateLine hose from ResMed for just under a month -- and it worked fine, for a short while. In less than a month, though, it developed a huge hole near the fitting for the mask. I asked my supplier about that, and was told that there is no warranty on the hose so I had to buy a new one. Yes, in less than a month -- and that ClimateLine hose sure isn't cheap! I've been using a CPAP device for about 6 years and have never had a hose fail -- not even the cheaper ones that my supplier often sent. So, beware the expensive ClimateLine hose.

UPDATE: I contacted the ResMed folks, and they said there is a 90-day warranty on the ClimateLine hose. I went back to my supplier and gave them that news -- then they promptly refunded the charge for the replacement hose. So, ResMed did stand behind their product.

The climateline has a one month warranty. Your supplier doesn't know his business.

Or is too lazy to RMA the hose. Or just wants to sell you another one. If you are forced to buy another hose, I suggest you purchase it somewhere else.

My sleep quality has really gone down the drain recently with the SlimLine tube and I am hoping to get my ClimateLine tube as soon as possible. Hopefully, this will help my issues, so that I can rest in peace!

Secondwind was out of stock of the climateline tubing when I bought my S9, so I had a week on slimline without a cozy, and I had a hard time getting enough humidity with no rainout. If that's your problem, you'll be much happier with the climateline tubing.
