1yr annual check

Post by jmcanzo » Tue Apr 19, 2011 11:31 am

Just had my one year annual check up with Sleep doc. I am not having any problems but needed to get the script for mask and etc updated, expired after a yr.
I also told her I use an auto and set it myself she had no problem with it. She then looked at my report for 90, 30, 7, & 1 day and my 98% yr compliance (Should have been 100% but the clock got messed up for 2 nights) and was happy with the results. My AHI averages about 3. I also asked her to write me a script for the data module and software for my machine. I do not need the script to buy it, but this way I am pretty sure it will be covered by my medical savings account. She had no problem writing it and agreed it would give me even more detail to see if there are any problems. She said the auto machines are nice because they will adjust if needed due to weight gain or loss without having to do anything.
I am glad she does not have a problem with me taking charge of my own therapy, and said see you in a yr! (Actually will see her more as I work in the building the office is in. LOL)

Is it common for prescriptions to expire after 1 year???? Mine is almost 3 years old and when I switched DME about 15 months ago they said my 15 month old prescription was fine. I am still ordering product on a now almost 3 year old prescription. I would hate to go to my sleep doctor just for a prescription when everything else was OK.

Length of Rx is based on how it is written. My initial Rx was a one time only and cpap.com alerted me that I would not be able to buy anything beyond the first items. I asked my doctor for a generic Rx for cpap and mask of patient's choosing with no defined 'refills' and that makes it good for life. He gave me that Rx without hesitation and said anything else I needed he would be happy to provide.

@jmcanzo.... Good thinking to ask for the Rx for the software for your MSA documentation. If you need any help with the software, let me know. I wrote a simply quick guide to get started with it for anyone who may not be tech savvy. If you feel you might want that, PM me and I'll be happy to email it to you if you provide me your email address. I also have the clinician's manual for the machine, if you need it. I've sent it to so many folks now, I can't remember if you were one or not!

Best of luck!
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.
