I am Male, 33, 5'5" and was at 264 when I started.. (bout 6 weeks ago) I am VERY busy and work several jobs (by choice LOL) I joined Jenny Craig Direct. Every month I receive a box with all my food, menues, vitamins, books blah blah blah.. I get a call from a nutritionist/therapist once a week to check me out.. As of yesterday I was at 240.

I decided that this is the worst thing that has ever happened to me (I always thought I slept fine and was never very tired) and the only way to MAYBE fix it is to lose a ton of weight.. Acording to regular medicing.. I should weigh 120. HAHAHAHAHAHA All my internal organs would have no place to go.. Jenny Craig Said I should be at 145. (Based on a whole bunch of criteria)

I started out in August needing to lose about 100 pounds. Been doing Weight Watchers core program which I REALLY like. I've lost 40 lbs so far --actually closer to 55 but that counts the 8 I regained and had to relose over the Holidays! I had a new sleep study done a month ago and my pressure has been dropped from 8 to 6. Of course I hope to get off CPAP altogether, but my apnea dr., a very thin man who also has apnea, tells me that of the 15,000 people he has treated, about 15 have been able to get off through weight loss, since throat shape seems to have a great deal to do with it.

I'm in. Actually, I already started. I weighed myself just after Christmas and didn't like it. I had topped 300lbs, my highest ever at 300.4lbs. I am 6' tall and large boned. I started watching my portions and types of foods. I also cut out my 7 to 9 20oz bottles of Mt. Dew per day. I am already down to 285, but I attribute most of that to the Mt. Dew that I am not drinking. I am now sticking to the Walmart brand of Crystal Light. Love it!

My biggest hurdle is portion control. I eat a ton of food. If I go to McDonald's for breakfast, I typically get 5 breakfast burritos and a Sausage Egg and Cheese biscuit, along with a huge Mt. Dew. I'm not sure what that adds up to in weight watchers, but probably about 3 days worth of meals.

My goal is to get down to about 225 or less. I'd really like to get back down to 180 again, but I think I am getting too old for that If I make it down to 225 before my wedding in June, I will be a very happy man. I have always been able to drop weight fast, but also put it on very fast too.

My wife and I are talking about getting a Bowflex machine. I have used them before and loved it. I need a variety when exercising, and do not like to go to a public place to work out, so I think this will be the route I take.

I will try and check in every friday and see how everyone else is doing and to post my current status. I also just quit smoking, so this is going to be an interesting time for me.

Friday's weigh in a few minutes early...

Post by jimbo1957 » Thu Jan 12, 2006 10:01 pm

A SEASONED dieter, I have a long way/weigh to go from my current 312 lbs at 5'9" but since I quit WW this fall (before the holidays) after going down and back up and over my starting weight I decided I needed less "freedom" and something a bit more low-carb like South Beach. So, since 1/1/06 I'm down to 312 from my starting weight of 322.2 and I'm encouraged. I'm also starting the CPAP at the same time and struggling to make it through the night. So far, I can't go for much more than 2 hours at a stretch. But I know that as long as I keep trying, it WILL get easier and more comfortable. I hope the weight loss will also encourage me. My car was totaled in early November, so I am walking 30 minutes to work most days (although there are cabs and a bus). So far so good. I like the idea of mutual support and checking in and reporting. See you in a week (if not before !!!!) I'd say my realistic goal is 200 lbs; my "healthy weight" is between 147 and 174... Jimbo

Ok, I will kick in on this one. Last doctor's appointment I was at 222. My heaviest. and boy can I tell the difference. I haven't wieghed myself since and I started a "diet" last week. Trying not to snack between meals and having lots of salad, smaller portions of food when I do eat_ except the salad, need more to control hunger and eating more healthier stuff. Grapefruit and oranges this week. Trying to drink more water. I drink a lot of caffiene free diet coke at night. No caffiene after lunchtime. Tomorrow morning I will actually weigh myself and see what happens. need to get up earlier now and walk even thought its freezing out. Good luck everyone.

Count me in too.

I've got 65lbs to lose and I REALLY need to get going and get back in shape.

I missed this round but I'll check in a week from tomorrow.

Thanks for starting this. Support and encouragement really help and this group is great at both!

I weigh the same as last week. But, I know why, I haven't started walking, and I have had some sweets. The pounds do not melt off me, they have to be pulled off.
I'm not giving up. It hasn't been a full week, just 4 days so I'm sure I'll show a loss next Friday.
