The joys of REM dreaming

My dreams are SO vivid now on CPAP.

Last night I dreamt that I was at a cocktail party and two people walked by me, drinks in hand. One asked the other "what is that strange whislting noise" and his companion replied "Oh, that's just Janknitz wheezing again."

With that I woke up and found that my mask (I was using the Mirage Micro) last night was really whistling because my nose was totally congested. Darn--except for the fact that I couldn't breathe (minor detail!)I was quite comfortable. I have a fuzzy soft mask liner I made from fleece on my micro, and it's very cozy. I wasn't happy that I had to come fully awake and switch to my FF Quattro so I could go back to sleep.

I think it is time to bump my humidifier down a notch, but it was an amusing way to wake up. My dreams are often quite humorous, when they aren't terrifyingly scary.

Anyone else have CPAP dreams?

I have started dreaming again. Nearly every night since I started with the machine last week. It's amazing. I wasn't dreaming before because I was waking up on average of every 1.5 minutes during REM. Rarely I'd have horrible nightmares, but never pleasant dreams. I'm dreaming again and it's wonderful!

I am always interested when people post about this, because it was something I had hoped would return...dreaming, that is! And for me, it really has not. Once in awhile, very seldom, I am aware of dreaming right before I wake up, but it is so seldom it is barely worth mentioning. I have been on the hose for well over a year now and I suppose that it will not.

I have always had vivid dreams and that hasn't changed any since starting CPAP. If anything, I may be dreaming less.

Last night, I thought I was hearing the radio in my mask,
or through the hose or something.
I thought, it couldn't be coming through my mask...
it was coming from outside. So, I got up and went outside.
It was more clear, but still sort of far away.
I walked down the street til it was very clear.
It was coming from the Monkey Butt Piano Lounge.
It was the sound of a small combo, so I walked inside.

On a small stage, was DSM, in an astronaut suit,
playing an acoustic, stand-up bass.
Perched on a bar stool, next to him, was JNK, on guitar.
Spanking the ivories of a worn out baby grand,
the name sake of the place.....well,
through the blue, smokey haze, I couldn't make out a face.
All this gyrating to the swish-swish-swish of a brush on a snare
and the low thud of an old, beat up bass.

I just stood there in total disbelief.

Then, I slowly began to realize that the swish-swish-swish,
was the hiss of a small leak, and the slow, steady rhythm,
was the beat of my heart.

This wasn't coming through my mask or hose,
it wasn't coming from down the street,
it was coming from the deep recess,
of a brain,
fast,
fast,
asleep.

Very interesting to hear this. I started CPAP several weeks ago and I too feel like I'm dreaming more vividly and more readily.
