Change in 2factors card reader price???

Post by winken blinken and nod » Thu Jan 12, 2006 11:47 am

Hi folks,

I just tried to order a card reader from 2factors and they appear to have changed their policy and require a $30 min order. They want me to buy 2 card readers for $48 to fill that requirement.

Has anyone else run into this?

Make sure you add the shipping in. That'll make the total over the $30 minimum.

They won't even let me get to that stage in the order process unless I put $30 in merchandise into my cart.

Which browser did you use? I had to use IE for it to work.

That company is a flake if you ask me, I placed an order with them on-line (twice) ordering 2 units each time to be past their minimum, gave them my credit card (selected postal delivery), they accepted the order, then I get this email sent not only to me but to several people that I also need to reconfirm my order, so I went back to the website and confirmed it, Still no card reader. Screw up the order once I can understand that, do it twice in a row, forget it.

I can only guess that half the people in Hong Kong are having lunch on my credit card

Their website is really a joke and not very secure to begin with. If your going to do global business you should have a website set up to handle it or not do it at all.

There is nothing really special about that card reader, do a Google search for DT3500 SmartCard Reader there are others that make similar USB versions of that same reader.

Well, the good thing about THAT card reader was it works perfectly with Encore Pro and it was a very cheap price. But you're right about that email confirmation business. I got someone else's confirmation a few months ago at the same time others on this site did, too. It was really strange.

I would suggest that maybe you could get an order together with some other people, or even just one other person, on site that has a Paypal account to do a money transfer to one of you through and that would put you over the $30 limit for the order. Or you can look around and find another place that will charge you more for another reader. If the lowest price is important, I'd find someone else looking to buy one, too, and do a joint order.

I ordered mine from Securetech Peripherals for $49.00 and it shipped same day. It cost a little more than 2factors but the transaction was hassle free.

Here's the website http://www.securetech-corp.com/mako_dt.html

Regards,
Bill

P.S. You'll still want the Respironics driver which is available from the 2factors website.

My only regret was not buying 2, from 2Factors. They preformed as requested and I received product in less that 10 days. The price was the lowest available in the world, the shipping was flawless, and payment was easy.

Much better than TigerDirect which was much slower to send product (250gb hard drive) Also now going into month three waiting for them to honor their $50 rebate, through their own rebate company scam. What a bunch of jerks.

2factors beats any company I have dealt with in 5 years, my hats off to them.

The website is a little funky...you have to add the shipping to the cart. Go back and look for it like an item you are purchasing. That will make it over $30.

I ordered a reader from 2factors and had no problems at all, it arrived in 1 week. As a matter of fact I mistakenly paid twice and they were very fast to refund my second payment.
Winkin: I just went to their sight they have a place on the left hand side of the screen that has different options, choose the top...'New Arrival' this one gives you the option of the card reader and shipping together for $30.80.
Hope this helps.

When we first became aware of the low price at 2factors, I bought three card readers from them.

I was using the Firefox browser (at that time, I didn't know the site needed IE to work right) so was not able to get the order form to come up. I sent them an email. Their email reply was in not very fluent English but understandable, very quick, and courteous. They processed my order without a hitch via PayPal. I received the readers in about a week. I would certainly buy again from 2factors without any hesitation at all.

Thank you everyone for getting back to me.

I guess this is just one of those situations where things go perfectly for some and perfectly lousy for others.

I did use IE as the browser (took me a couple of tries to figure that out - I normally use Opera). I emailed them a total of 4 times over the past 2 months and never got a reply at all. And their site comes up with a warning that they are using an old security encryption technique. I'm going to bail over to Securetech just to get the darn thing ordered.

Sounds like most everybody does great working with them. Just bad luck on my part.

Thanks once again,

I use Linux (operating system) as my primary rather than Windows. Ther IS NO Internet Explorer for Linux. I use Firefox. I had to use my wife's laptop to order from 2factors. It also took me a few runs through their site to figure out that part about adding shipping as though it were an item.

Not a very "global shopper" friendly web site, but.... it worked out and after placing my order I received it in about a week. So despite the non-conformity... it did at least work.
