Full face mask for back sleeper?

Post by Hrast » Mon Apr 11, 2011 1:31 pm

I've been using a Comfort Gel Full for a couple of years now. I seem to go on the jags where I wake up three or four times a night leaking badly. I'm pretty sure its because my jaw relaxes and falls back when I go to sleep. Anyone found a mask that they can get to stay leakless in this situation? I tried a slightly larger ComfortGel Full, and a Forma to see if they would help, but no such luck.

I would think that back sleepers would have an easier time with a mask than side or stomach sleepers. If you are sleeping on your back you are not confronting the pillow issue. I am predominantly a side sleeper and have never had a problem with the Quatro. The key for me is to wash my face before putting on the mask to get all facial oils off.

You might try Padacheek's anti-leak strap. That seems to keep things in place when you move or relax.

I use a F&P fullface 431, and it seems to work great on my back. On my side is a different story, lol.

The Resmed quattro has a flap below the bottom lip design to handle jaw dropping.

And i think the newer quattro fx has the same.

I think I have this problem too. I start the night OK but wake up because of air blowing cold on my face or into my eyes. Sometimes it's the noise that wakes me - whistling noises or worse I am using a Resmed Quattro FX but I can't say that I was aware that it prevents jaw dropping.

I sleep on my back but would prefer to sleep on my side. However, all the leak problems are so much worse on my side.

I would be grateful for any suggestions, thanks.

I tried one of their old ones, but I have a very large head, and it just wasn't long enough to get around my head in a useful way. I see they've reworked them now, I may give it another go.

I think I have a Quattro at home (I'm up at probably a half dozen masks of four or five different models), after reading a link in someone's signature here about how to fit it, I just might give it another shot.

*EDIT*

I do have one, as I see it in my own signature. Wow, I think its time for more caffeine...
