Washing headgear

Post by dusty0318 » Tue Apr 05, 2011 2:36 pm

I washed my headgear at 6am and put it out to dry. It's 4:30pm now and it's still wet. I tried using the hair dryer on it. Not much luck. Can I put it in the dryer? OR am I stuck wearing wet headgear tonight? I know stupid baby question.

I usually roll my headgear in a towel to blot it , then hang to dry, wouldn't use the dryer, unless it was just air, not heat.
Any landing you walk away from is a good one; if you don't break your airplane it's excellent.

Did you squeeze as much water out of it as possible before hanging it up?
What's the weather like? Is it dry enough to hang it outside to dry for awhile?
I did on one occasion resort to throwing mine in the dryer to finish it up. I'd recommend putting some other item(s) in with it so it just doesn't flop around by itself in the dryer.

You just got your mask 2 weeks ago...why are you washing the headgear already?

If you make yourself some sets of fleece strap covers, you can just wash them......."whenever".......and you won't have to wash the whole headgear nearly as often.

I wash & dry my headgear in those small pouches that women use to wash & dry delicate items in.

I wish I hadn't. The velcro on mine hasn't been the same since I did.

I have been of cpap for 2.5 years now and have never cleaned my headgear. Of coarse I haven't had the same mask for that entire time. Washing the headgear, I think, is more wear and tear than just leaving it alone. I might change my mind, however, if I looked at my straps under a microscope.
