As a diabetic using insulin, there is no way I would ever get a machine without full data--no brainer!

That's what I keep thinking. But this lady acts like I'm asking to break the rules or something by wanting to see my data on a daily basis. She just seem so clueless! She said she has never heard of anybody wanting to know their data and that doctors don't want you to know it either... Like it's none of our business.

According to the "professionals" charged with our care, it IS none of our business. We are expected to strap the mask on like sheep and go to sleep. No questions asked, no problems solved, and we should not bother the poor sleep doctor because he doesn't get paid for followup care. The DME that is supposed to help us problem solve doesn't even get training in whether a machine even has data that can help us. Sheesh

Any wonder why the long-term compliance rate for CPAP is so low? This is why so many people fail this therapy! Any question why you failed the last two attempts????

Nobody cares more about YOUR health than you do. If you want to be certain you are getting the best therapy and have success this time, you need to take charge. The "professionals" have already shown you that they don't care! Their attitudes cost you your health in your past few attempts!

I have a brother in law on cpap and he does not even know whether he is fixed, auto, or what his pressure is and does not seem concerned at all. He is every DME's dream of a patient.

Her answer to the problem was for me to go get drugs so I just don't care about whether I'm getting well or not!!!

Does your doctor object to you reviewing your own data? If so, consider finding a doctor who will help you do this therapy, rather than insist you submit to it. If you already have such a doctor, one call from him may change the DME's attitude.

They just want to sell machines and resupply gear and also get your insurance money. What is described on this forum and several others indicates major legal action is needed to straighten out the lackadaisical practices of the sleep medicine profession and the DME business. It is only when people are threatened with loss of income or receive a court ordered injunction forcing them by the LAW, that they change their ways.
