just recieved my sleep study scores
I received my scores today from my sleep study last month.....They are as follows :
O2-----low 21% high-----95 %
apnea -----152
hypop ----- 79
apnea+hypop --------231
snore events --------379
arousals --------------759
arousals with awakenings ---759
leg movements --------219
leg movements with arousals---140
leg movements non-rem----208
leg movements rem -----11
This may seem pretty bad for an 8 hr sleep , but it was actually 4 and a half hours .....could anyone compare scores with me, or maybe help me to further understand . anyone know how many leg movements are normal for ppl not suffering from apnea ?

Wow, have you had your titration yet?
How long did it say your oxygen was below 88%?

Welcome to the club.
I didn't know a low Sp02 of 21% was even possible.

mbmonkey, if you'll follow the steps in the picture below, to list the cpap machine and mask you were given, that will make your equipment show up at the bottom of all your posts when you're logged in. That will help others help you.

Do you know what pressure you were prescribed?
I'm assuming you have a cpap machine now, since you wrote this in a previous topic:

viewtopic.php?p=573546#p573546my resperatory nurse put the mask and oxygen on me for about 4 hrs during my sleep test and I was fitted for my cpap a couple days ago....they started me off without oxygen, at least until the doctor scores me and makes the decision as to whether or not I need oxygen , but I can tell a tremendous difference already. I don't know if it will last or get better or worse, but the last couple of days I have felt more rested than any time I can remember in the past 2 to 3 years.

21% - Is that a typo?mbmonkey1971 wrote:O2-----low 21% high-----95 %
Besides the counts, what did the report say about your leg movements? Some of your movements could come with the apneas as you move in the struggle to breathe. There is also something called Periodic Limb Movement Disorder (PLMD) that can cause movements that can cause arousal. Did the report mention that?mbmonkey1971 wrote:anyone know how many leg movements are normal for ppl not suffering from apnea ?
It may be that your legs will settle down some with CPAP treatment - it remains to be seen. If not, you will need to figure out your next step for the limb movements. As one with both sleep apnea and limb movements, I would suggest you from the start make sure you get a data capable machine and do not be deterred. In such a case I consider it medical necessity. Otherwise if you still feel bad even on CPAP, you won't know if it's a CPAP issue or limb movements without repeated sleep studies to differentiate, and believe me, that can be a moving target. With a data capable machine, you can at least know your apnea is therapeutically treated, and then turn your attention to the movements.
For the sake of discussion, if many of your arousals came from limb movements unrelated to the apnea, just imagine how bad your apnea might have been if your legs allowed you to sleep more or better. All the more reason for a data capable machine. That night in the sleep lab could very well be just a glimpse of fluctuating sleep needs. While maybe not the final word, your titration study report should give you a better idea of what your limb movement count means. A step at a time.

Re: just recieved my sleep study scores
Sorry KTEAGUE , but that is not a typo.......it only dipped for a few seconds during my worst apnea episode of the night, according to the resp nurse, but rebounded quickly......she put me on O2 , needless to say, and I did very well after that. my pressure was set at 20/15 and seems to be working well.....I am due to take my smart card back in so they can look at my readings......that will be in a few more days.....BUT I am feeling GREAT !!! I am more productive at work, I sleep ALL NIGHT LONG with no trips to the bathroom, I think clearly and remember things now ( my wife's favorite part) lol......and I just feel I am in better overall health.

This is sounding very good, mbmonkey, especially considering what all was happening to you during your sleep study. Those were scary numbers. Your BiPAP Pro is doing a good job to have you feeling this much better.mbmonkey1971 wrote:put me on O2 , needless to say, and I did very well after that. my pressure was set at 20/15 and seems to be working well.....I am due to take my smart card back in so they can look at my readings......that will be in a few more days.....BUT I am feeling GREAT !!! When you take the Smart Card in for them to read it, ask them to pull up the "Full Details" report before they close it and print that out for you. A menu pops up offering three types of reports to see.. Summary, Trend, and Full Details. Stress that you'd like to have the report called "Full Details"...not just the usual "Summary" report they do for insurance compliance purposes.
That full report in Encore Pro should run about ten pages or so... longer than the one or two pages of a "Summary" report.
Hope you continue to keep having such good results, mbmonkey. That's very, very good news to hear!

I had a low 02 of 35%. Not as low as yours but RT said I shouldn't be alive.mbmonkey1971 wrote:Sorry KTEAGUE , but that is not a typo.......it only dipped for a few seconds during my worst apnea episode of the night, according to the resp nurse, but rebounded quickly......she put me on O2 , needless to say, and I did very well after that. my pressure was set at 20/15 and seems to be working well.....I am due to take my smart card back in so they can look at my readings......that will be in a few more days.....BUT I am feeling GREAT !!!
