Are these readings meant to be good?

Post by wildhog » Thu Mar 24, 2011 10:01 pm

Hi guys. Could you please comment on my below readings. Being a newby I just want to know if I'm heading in the right direction. At my sleep study session (before using CPAP mahine) my apneas were in high 20's.

Leak 3.6 L/Min
AHI 2.9
Total AI 2.5
Central AI 0.6
Pressure 8.0

Also could you please enlighten me on AutoPap as I am about to buy my own machine but the clinic seem to say that I dont need Auto. I just dont want to buy a non-auto unit and then regret it down the track as most of the responses to my earlier posts are suggesting its the way to go which I feel is correct?

Kind regards

Your numbers are great.

APAPs come in handy and some people do better on them some people don't. It can be used in straight CPAP mode as well as Auto.
You may not need it now. May not need it ever. But sometimes things change or pressure needs may vary a bit and the auto range can maybe check to see if a different pressure might work better.
Its 2 machines in one. You can always use it in CPAP mode but can't use the straight cpap in anything but cpap.

If pressure variation bug you, it can cause a person to wake up with pressure changes which makes us feel not so good.

If not much difference in money, get the APAP. Never know when it might be needed.
