I have hit a wall

Post by msudawg » Thu Mar 24, 2011 9:58 am

I've been on cpap for almost a year and everything has been good for the most part until last week. Now I feel almost as bad as before I started therapy. My numbers look fine (low leaks, AHI < 2, ect)
Anyone have any ideas?

Are these the numbers off the machine LED screen or the software reports?

For the most part hints at times not so great. What difference are you feeling now? More tired, sleepy, general yuckiness?
Can you put a finger on it? How many hours of sleep regularly? Wake up during night or sleep through? Any other health problems, meds, pain, bad mattress, or anything that stands out to you? It could be any number of things. We often want to blame OSA for all our problems but sometimes it is simply other things going on. When was last general physical?

Any changes lately? New medication? Dose change? Taking any new OTC supplements?
Illness or injury?

It could be something simple and subtle.... I like to blame OSA too....since it's created havoc in most every other aspect in my life!

Mouth-leaking? (you're showing a nasal mask in your profile)

Second thought..... How much sleep have you been getting?

Your numbers are 'fine' but I wonder if what you think is fine and others is the same thing - what are your numbers?

Long term average AHI
Last two weeks highest AHI
Last two weeks lowest AHI
Leak
etc

I sleep about 8 hours each night (not changed in the last year)

wake up tired in the morning and stay tired all day; headaches; sleepy until at least lunch
no other health changes that I know of
haven't had a physical in about 8 months, but everything was fine at that point

Long term average AHI
Last two weeks highest AHI
Last two weeks lowest AHI
Leak
etc

long term average AHI is 1.83 (thats over six months + or -)

Last two weeks highest AHI 3.4

last two weeks lowest AHI 0.9

I don't have the leak rate with me, but the charts have been flat and even for the most part (spike if I get up to go to the restroom, ect.)

Do you have the software to look at your data more closely? That may be key to finding out just what is going on. Our host site (cpap.com) sells the software for around $100. Best money I ever spent in regards to my sleep!

What changes can you find? It might seem like no big change, but even little changes can have big effects.

You could consider posting a typical "before" and an "after" report.

Is there a potential that there's something else wrong?
