Bonnie I think that would be a great idea. I get so frustrated every time I step on the scale. My hasband & Dr. try to assure me that it's not impossible,but I am upset that the weight is not coming off with dieting & 1-2 hours of exercise every day.

Do you remember Amy (Yawn) and her Friday weigh-in club? Whatever happened to that AND HER??? That was just what you are talking about.

I'm interested in Bonnie's idea of a support group, to encourage each other. Like several others, I don't really have the money for something like Weight Watchers. I was able to lose about 30 pounds last year, through a church group, and the support of the group really made the difference for me. The group disbanded when the leader moved, and no one has taken it over. I know - do it yourself LOL - but I'm just keeping my own head above water right now!

For the last 9 months I've been able to make zero progress, though have managed to keep off the 30 pounds. The secret for me was like Lori said - watching my foods - portions, no sodas, lots of fruit, veggies, water, etc. and exercise.

I was exercising pretty regularly, until I started a new full time job this past summer. Then I was just so tired all the time - got the apnea diagnosis in September, hosehead in October, and the last couple months just concentrating on getting compliant and feeling better. I still have days that are better than others, but I think I'm ready to get back on the exercise wagon again.

Sure could use encouragement to stick with it - and happy to provide to others as well. I like the "Friday weigh-in" idea - we could all commit to providing our ups and downs, tips, etc.

Anyone game for starting this Friday, the 6th? We could call it our "baseline" weigh-in. For anyone not wanting to share actual weight - you could just share your goal this Friday, and then weekly share gain/loss/no change.

I've been on CPAP for a year this month also, and I remember the sleep tech telling me I'd be full of energy and lose weight, etc. etc. It didn't happen that way. Since I have been on CPAP therapy, I have noticed a big difference in the way that I feel. But CPAP alone will not take off the weight. I have started excercising and eating right and one of my resolutions is to lose at least 100 lbs. this year. In total, I want to lose 185 lbs.

I truly believe that my large weight gain is related to my OSA. I believe that I've had the OSA for more years than I care to count, and I just felt like crap all the time and I thought that was normal.

Being a part of this board has answered so many questions I have had, I believe that we could help each other as mentioned in some of the above posts.

Kikisue, I'm game for Friday as a start. Why don't you start a thread and we can all post our SUCCESSES, and yes we are going to have great luck, I feel it in my bones (If I could feel my bones thru all this fat...lol )

Hi, all
I never went into the cpap "thing" thinking I would lose weight.That was because I had not heard or read much about OSA.
I have not gained since I am on cpap, and I did lose 15 lbs, but that was because I moved to another residence, and it took me 3 months to do that, so I was naturally more active.
I usually(but of course not over the holidays) control my fat,salt,carb,sugar intake, and whatever else I am supposed to be "watching." So, I have not gained any weight since losing the 15 lbs. Oh, maybe just 5 lbs over the holidays!!! I have to be honest.
My New Year's resolution is to start walking(again) and to really really try to be more active.

Good luck to everyone in their quest to lose weight.
