Mask w/o Prescription??

Post by Just2Breathe » Sat Mar 12, 2011 3:30 pm

Hello - I have been reading here for a bit, and the answer may already be here, but I have missed it... I have a Remstar Plus, mild apnea, yadda yadda yadda... I do not have a current mask. I do not have a prescription for such (anymore... and it would be next to impossible to get ahold of it - prior military wife - long story...). I need a new mask and find they are now only available by prescription. My insurance does not cover DME anyway, any resources for purchasing one (new) w/o a prescription/doctor visit, etc.??? Thank you for any and all help! Greatly appreciated.

go to clinicalsleep.com or ebay, or secondwind.com.
Just bought a mask from clinical sleep and I didn't have to download my rx.

Not a problem, have them send it to me and I will send to you. Just pm me if you want to go that route and I'll give you my mailing address and stuff.

Your regular physcian can write you a prescription for a machine and supplies. See if s/he will do so.

http://www.youneedsleep.com/

I just purchased some masks from them and no script was asked for. They have decent prices on their masks and good customer service.

Go onto website for Secondwindcpap.com call or leave a message for Mark Seager - owner let him know that you spoke with Carmela on an open forum and she purchased the sleepweaver mask and she advised you to call him to see if he can help you. This program also helps individuals with financial issues and I am sure he will be able to help you out. You can also purchase masks without a prescription as well. Good Luck...... God Bless

I second what jdm said. Have your regular doctor write a script for machine and cpap supplies at your next visit if he/she requires a visit. Might try a phone call if doc is more lenient. Just explain you need it so you can take advantage of the good deals on the internet since mask require a RX. You can then use it at cpapauction or cpap.com for masks and take advantage of some good deals if they pop up. You could still use another site that might not require RX but sometimes those mask deals at cpapauction are pretty darn good. Would be good to have the RX in hand. Don't know when or if the other places may change rx requirements. I see some masks on Ebay, whole masks not parts, and they aren't supposed to do it but I don't think the Ebay police catch them all.

In the meantime in a pinch, where do you live? I bet someone here would probably help you out in some way.
Which mask is it that you prefer to use?

I have a Mirage Micro (size M / L) that I have used for 2 hours. It was too big for me.

I'd be happy to sell it pretty cheap. PM me if you are interested.

I think it is such a shame that there are masks just hanging around in people's closets and drawers with no source to get them to someone who could use them.
