First Night

Post by bkdraft » Fri Mar 11, 2011 8:14 am

Last night was my first night with the apap.
Apnea Index: 4.7
Obstructive: 0.8
Central: 3.8
Unknown: 0.1
Median Pressure: 4.9
95th Percentile: 7.4
Maximum: 9.5

Pressure set on 4-12

RT will be here in about an hour, but just wondering what your thoughts are?

I would think that those are very good numbers for a first night (and even 30 day or more).
Leak? I didn't see that report.
Are you going to get the software to see the daily details and graphs?

You got through the first night. Was it troublesome or hard to sleep? Seems like many people report fragmented sleep because of all the foreign stuff we are attached to. That part will ease up with just a little time and experience.

First milestone has been passed..

Leak: Median: 1.2
95th Percentile: 12.0
Maximum: 78.0

Have the S9 set for Auto start/stop, one time I got up to go to the bathroom it did not shut off. Did that affect the leak data?

Yes, I do have the software.

Yep. most likely but probably not a big deal as your leak rate reported is not bad anyway. I would suspect that if you looked at the report graphs the leak line was very, very good for the majority of the night and would spike briefly during the bathroom break. Hence the max of 78... Overall median is quite acceptable so the bulk of the good night leak numbers are what is most important. I wouldn't worry about it.

RT came by today to set up our machines, I handed her the printouts from last nights trial run, she was impressed that I already knew so much. Have to credit this forum for that. She said everything looked OK, but she did leave us both oximeters to run a check on our O2 levels since they were both low at the sleep clinic. Would not surprise me if I had to start adding O2 next week, will find out by Monday.
