FlexiFit HC431 Full Face Mask "OK" with Resmed Adapt SV??

Post by john.michael » Wed Mar 02, 2011 6:32 pm

Hi,

I recently read in multiple posts/threads that there are only a small number of masks that are correct for the machine I have, Resmed Adapt SV Enhanced. During my sleep study with VPAP machine, they used a Mirage Quattro mask, and that is what my doctor prescribed. However, when the DME brought my machine (initially the wrong one, a CPAP), she told me that they did not have the specific mask my doctor requested and she brought a FlexiFit HC431 Full Face mask instead.

Since I have only central apnea, I got the machine replaced to the prescribed Adapt SV, but they did not replace the mask. I did not think much of it until reading more about it today.

This mask seems to be comfortable. When I am awake, I do not notice any leaks. The DME said it appeared to fit perfectly, and she also noted no leaks.

I have listed the info from my machine for each of the few mornings since I began treatment in this thread:
viewtopic/t60857/First-Night-With-VPAP-Machine.html

Each day, the machine reports no leaks. However, I just read that the machine has a setting to specify which mask is attached, AND that the primary (only?) thing the setting does it influence the way the machine detects and reports leaks. My machine is set to "FULL FACE". But now I am wondering if it is wrong to use this mask with this machine, and maybe the reported number of zero leaks is not reliable??

I'm really new to all this and unsure whether to be happy with this mask because it seems comfortable and is reporting no leaks, or do I need to get one that is "right" for this machine?

Thanks in advance for any replies!
John

If the script the doc wrote calls for that specific mask i'd hound the DME over the script, they need to fill it the way it was written..and on top of that if that's the mask you want they should provide you what you want or need, accept no substitutions these DME's will walk all over people when they get the chance

Resmed only offers their products as choices in the mask selection menu. The choice for Full Face is the best of your choices and likely makes minimal, if any, difference in the leak rate showing. If you were using a nasal pillow mask and chose the FF, then it might impact the leak rate reported.

Yeah, I learned this flexifit mask is not good on resumed adapt sv machine. At the sleep center, we tried it on my machine, "circuit failed". We tried a mirage quattro on my adapt sv: circuit learned successfully. We tried the flexifit on another resumed; 'circuit faild'

Meanwhile, the Dr, the DME, even the resumed rep all said it should make no difference!
