I just got in the 20th (Oops 21st) Century and replaced my 5 year old Good Knights with a Resmed S9. On the GK I was told to remove the humidifier tank each day to prevent the moisture affecting the CPAP machine. O the new Resmed the chamber fits inside a separate compartment. Should I still be removing it?
Also, the old chamber came apart for cleaning. This one is one piece. What is the best method of cleaning any residue from the distilled water?
Thanks, Dean in Canada

Re: Resmed S9 Humidifier Question
A lot of us simply top the water off and move on. I don't remove the tank except once a month or so to clean everything. Since you're using distilled water, you don't have to worry about residue. There isn't any in distilled water.
Somewhere on the board is a YouTube link to a video that shows how to take the tank apart. It's basically just snapped together. I just go slowly around the edge, slightly "popping" it until it comes apart.

Re: Resmed S9 Humidifier Question
There is a replacement tub available that easily snaps apart for cleaning--it is even dishwasher safe! Best $37 I spent.... Funny, Apria told me that this was the "old" chamber and had been discontinued. It is the new one! I don't know how they stay in business because everything I ordered from them seemed to be backordered! There's a reason I stopped using them.

Even though I still just top off my tank every night, now when I do clean it, it's much easier.

Re: Resmed S9 Humidifier Question
I just top-off mine every 3rd day. I never empty the remaining water each day nor do I take out the module to clean it. There's no need to. It's either filled with water all the time or just coming off from a full-fill. Due to the nature of distilled water, it will not stain and doesn't "dirty" anything.

Re: Resmed S9 Humidifier Question
Once a week I remove the tank and add about a tablespoon of white vinegar and shake it without disassembling it. Then I empty it and pour a little distilled water, shake it to rinse out the vinegar and empty it, then fill it with distilled water and use it. The vinegar keeps micro-organisms from growing in it.

Re: Resmed S9 Humidifier Question
Greetings
Suggest you might like to try some hydrogen peroxide once a month or so. I find that to be a reasonable length of time. Weekly seems a bit much but that's your call. The peroxide kills bacteria AND viruses and it leaves no odor behind if you rinse even halfheartedly.
