How to fix a Squeaky Mask?

Post by VABeach » Fri Feb 25, 2011 7:07 am

My Zest mask has started squeaking at the plastic pivot point where the hose attaches. It started several days ago and squeaks when it rotates when I move at night. The squeak is just loud enough to wake me.

I'm not sure what to lubricate it with since any smell will be right at the nasal portion of the mask. Any suggestions on how to lubricate it enough to stop the squeak? I really don't think it will take much.

I will replaced the mask when the insurance cycle comes, but until then I need to find a solution.

Thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!

A little cooking oil on your fingers. Just rub it around and move the swivel around at the same time.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

I have NO EXPERIENCE or knowledge of how to fix this...but a thought that occurs to me based on recent posts on other topics would be to lubricate the squeak with KY jelly. Alternatively maybe the DME would know what could be done, or perhaps someone practical and experienced in the doctor's office....?????
hope you get some more replies because I'd be interested to see what the forum suggests

One option would be to do a search for FOOD GRADE SILICONE SPRAY -- it should be something that would do the trick without harming mask or wearer.

Silicone hair smoothing drops, AKA Frizzees, very small amount.

KY liquid. I've solved lots of mask squeaks with this.
