Craigslist CPAP gear at 1-512-468-4757 in TX

Post by jonnybee » Fri Jan 07, 2011 9:37 am

Most have seen this number pop up on various locations of craigslist and wondered if it is ligit. Just saw an ad in my area so my curiosity got the best of me and I called to check it out. The lady I talked to SOUNDED legit. She says she gets her equipment thru a medical supplier on a "whatever is available at the time" basis. She says she sells a the unit (brand new), a mask, tube, and carrying case and ships free. She also says she will swap the mask she supplies to suit the buyer providing she has the preferred mask available. She is advertising a RESPIRONIC'S PRO SYSTEM ONE for $495. I am not familiar with that unit so I don't know if that is a good deal or not. She does use Paypal for the transactions which would be a plus as far as legitimacy is concerned. Has anyone dealt with this lady? If so, what is your opinion?

Let me emphasize that I AM NOT suggesting that anyone buy from this person because I know absolutely nothing about her business. I was just curious because I am looking for an S9 Auto Set and have seen her advertise such units in the past. She says she does not currently have an S9 because they are in demand and her supplier rarely has them available for her.

She is running ads all over the US. They are appearing in my local Craiglist for my area too. The fact that she is shipping and you are not meeting face to face is a concern to me. $500 is a lot of money to send away and hope the person sends your the equipment.

I am very leary of this one. I wonder if anyone has actually made a purchase from her and been successful?

It's legit. I purchased a Resmed S9 Elite w/ Humidifier and mask for $550 shipped. She ships USPS 3 day. She included handwritten instructions which was kinda unprofessional and seemed weird. But as for honesty, you will get it. I paid paypal with my credit card for protection.

Just purchased an S9 Autoset from her. I couldn't have asked for better service. She doesn't get as many machines now as she use to but it was worth the wait for the money I saved.

I had the opportunity to buy from her and did not. She works with another lady who is in California. Their ads are almnost the same. If you have a problem paypal is horrible. I wonder how they can sell at those prices. Under $500 for a machine and a mask??

Hello..I just wanted to confirm that this seller on Craiglist's is very legit. Her name is Linda and she lives in Texas. I have also purchased a machine from her. I would highly recommend her. ..Chris

You will remember that ResMed has been very tough with internet suppliers and requires them to use MAP.

You also know that the U.S. durable medical equipment market is licensed and highly regulated and the number of manufacturers and suppliers is effectively limited by these government regulations. You can also understand that this situation limits the choices and increases the costs that we, the consumers, have.

I am very happy to hear that individuals are finding ways to buy and sell quality medical equipment at deeply discounted prices despite the tyranny of our government interferring in our daily lives and our health. Hooray for Linda!

Hi everyone, If you have a prescription and get it on file with cpapauction, you can buy from there at a much cheaper rate, it is the only legal cpap auction site on the internet. New System One Auto with Humidifier goes for $350 + $14 s&h, new masks are usually about $20-30 or less. Pro Models are much less than that even, as autos are top of the line.
Also, if you guys are unaware, Contec makes recording Oximeters that you can wear while you sleep and get all your pulse & oxygen results while you slept, great for determining if everything is working as should, or even testing someone that may think they have it., You can buy them on ebay for $70-95 from China, CMS50E = figertip model, slips off easy while sleeping, not recommended by me, CMS50F, wristwatch type, cable to fingertip, works wonderful, I have learned so much about my quality of sleep from these devices.

Keep an eye out on various used stores. I ordered this S9 auto set and just got it today: http://www.dotmed.com/listing/cpap/resm ... 5i/1213225.While the low price initially had me skeptical, the fact that I could pay with my American Express card (they have very generous refund/chargeback policies) made the decision a bit easier. I'm glad I did. While it was used (as described) it's "odometer" (whatever its called) says its been on for a total of 39 hours and looked pretty much new. All of the plastic protective stickers were still on the shiny bits, the filter was clean, the humidifier had no water spots, etc. I tested it with a manometer and its 100% true, so so far (knock on wood) I've been very happy with the purchase. So if you look it is possible to get even better prices on an S9 Autoset.

There must be something going on in Austin with cheap new/used CPAP's (my seller and this listing are both in Austin). However for the price (785) you can get the same CPAP at secondwindcpap.com (open box, zero hour) for $750 and I'd trust second wind to honor a warranty more than I would some random lady in Austin. I've heard that ResMed requires the warranty work be done by the original seller which would be whomever is the DME she is getting her stuff from. To me that would be a huge headache/means any "warranty" is pretty much worthless. Just my opinion from the research I did before getting mine. I think if I didn't bit on the one from Pantur's store on dot med, I would have went with secondwindcpap.

The only cpapauction that I know of WAS sponsored by the host of this forum. It has been closed for about 9 months.

The price is good but I'd worry about whether you may legitimately make a warranty claim if she is not an "authorized" seller. I know Resmed's warranty is non-transfereable so if she is somehow buying these at a very low cost as the original purchaser...or is perhaps otherwise procuring them through less than authorized or even "legal" channels, Resmed would be entirely within their rights to deny a warranty claim.

I had an opportunity to get an S9 rather cheap, but in the interest of getting a warranty I bought a new open box PRS1 from Secondwind. The peace of mind was worth much more to me.

Warranty matters are HUGE.
Back in the day, folks used to bring in 'offshore' Bulova watches to a jewelry store I worked in, expecting warranty service.
Apparently, they were real--just not made for the U.S. market--and under NO warranty.
Well worth the extra scratch to have the warranty!
